That right folks the Hotdog/Custard stands are open for business. Belly loves coney dogs, fair fries or onion rings and a cold root beer in a frosted mug. This time of the year I average two stop per week at many different Stands around Eastern Ohio.
Dalton Dairyette, Ror's, Asland/Wooster A&W, County Custard ........if you have one let me know I will stop for sure love coneys...

what your favorite drive up Hotdog/Custard Stand? What do you order?

There was a place in Berlin, OH that had the best coney dogs I can remember. The Berlin Dairy was right across from the the school where I used to play Little League Baseball, used to get the footlong with onions and yellow mustard. Loved that place, wish it was still there.

I go to Berlin all the time ... You got a name? There about three dairy stands in Berlin now... I will check it out. I stop at the Walnut Market every time in that area for ... pepper loaf .. My favorite lunch meat.. They are the only place that still make it...

Unfortunately it closed down I believe in the mid to late 90's. It closed down sometime after I moved away, the Berlin Burger was great too.

If you haven't been to Berlin lately, you probably won't recognize it. Big time commercialized.

Belly: Let me know when you are going to Dalton.

I visit once a year. I remember riding my bike through the small "downtown" area, what are now craft shops were once peoples homes. Boyd and Worthman is a staple of the town, they used to have a general store next door that were overtaken by the craft stores. I still know the back roads, the only way to get around the traffic during the tourist rush in the summer and fall.

On your way back home if you take Rt 62 through Winesburg stop by Winesburg Meats and get some of their weiners and apply your own homemade coney sauce you will not be disappointed.

Next time you visit there is no longer any parking "downtown" the streets have been widened with turning lanes courtesy of ODOT. Parking lots to accommodate the tourists vehicles are being constructed with houses being torn down to accommodate them. Its quite a different scene. So far its significantly reduced the amount of times I have had to navigate the back roads where if you don't hug the ditch you risk clipping mirrors with a fellow truck.

I'm a fan of Netty's in Toledo. We used to walk to the one across the street from campus regularly.

    You're the worst.

I love a good dog, but don't really have a go to place. My only rule for a hotdog is no catsup.

    Definitely this 100%.

I don't have a go-to, either. I like to try the local stuff though. I try to get the "staple" wherever I stop.

I've said this before, but the best hot dogs I ever had were at the Senate in Cinci.

Senate is pretty damn good if you like a gourmet dog.

I always stop by Winesburg Meats and Doughty Valley Meats while up there. Doughty Valley has excellent smoked pork chops, we pack the meat we bring back in the Yeti on dry ice and is frozen solid 24 hours later when we get home.

Yep, they have that snap when you bite into them too. If you stop by to get some dogs grab some of their bacon too.
