"Poor people can't afford to be cheap" but they do. In the long run it cost them more to replace cheap items. That okey because it was a replaceable item and they will keep replacing with cheap.
i see today the younger generation just assumes that cell phones, printers and eletronic as throw away items. Technology changes and the new become old quickly, replacement the only option. Buy img into this mindset transfers to other things. If you don't take care of what you own, you won't own it much longer.
Don't get me started on how irresponsible the next generation will be.
The idea of taking care and maintaining your property or items is becoming lost process and the world of marketing has sold everyone to be a "Replaceable thinker" . -

Belly is spot on. This current generation of 20-35 year olds have no concept of money. That's how we got into the housing crisis a few years back.
People need to stop and think about whether they can afford certain items.
It should be a requirement that every person take a personal finance course in high school -

Take some individual car: They don’t wash it, no regular oil changes, tires and brakes never checked… It a investment to get you from point A to point B where you can make money to pay for electronic throw aways… Those individuals mentality is that the car is also a “replaceable item” but forgetting that it is a costly item that is not easy to replace. -

I don't know many people who don't do regular maintenance on cars. Maybe young kids who don't know any better but most likely they have junker cars. I paid for my first car at 16 and every car since. If not, then it sounds like nothing has changed. Some people are stupid and spend more than they can afford.
I remember when I bought my first house, my realtor and mortgage guy were telling me I could afford to buy a much more expensive house than I was comfortable with. People need to keep in mind who they are getting their advice from and who that advice benefits. Any time someone gets paid on commission (realtor and financial advisor come to mind) They don't have your best interest in mind. -

The plan has always been to cut their benefits at the time that is needed most. Cat food is all they deserve while we clean up their mess. I have now accepted the full challenge and responsibility to fix their problems, provided they subside off of cat food(they may take a Vitamin C pill, store brand, to prevent scurvy). It really wasn't that long ago when many people chose to repair a broken item instead of trashing it and getting a new one, and the ability to fix at least some of our own things was fairly common. But the advent of more advanced (and somewhat mysterious) technology in our personal goods, coupled with the relatively cheap price to replace them, has brought about a throwaway mentality in our culture, which has also led to massive waste and environmental issues.
