No, not exactly. The law isn't black and white, that is why DA brings your grand jury cases. its your job to determine if there is probable cause to indict and eventually arrest. how I interpret the law may not be the same way you see it. for example, I have a case now that went to a preliminary hearing instead of a grand jury because the crooks were already in custody. one judge didn't think we had enough PC to send one of the guys to trial. Well here in CA, you can re file charges a second time since the guy never went to trial. I did, and a second judge felt there was enough PC to continue the second guy to trial. Even judges don't see eye to eye.

today I learned you can't get a good job if you went to Akron. I was just at an event with the Under Armour CFO/COO today at the HOF. You'd never guess where he went to school.

Just like I said earlier. The media has now done a 180 on their narrative since there was nothing going on tonight. Things were calm, so now let's make gang members a story and let them speak(not very well), and then turn the narrative to why police are out there and pushing into the streets... complete 180

Too bad the Akron police don't shoot somebody, I'd love to see that town get some much needed "urban renewal".

One of the CNN commentators made a comment just as they cut to a commercial, but it was 100% true. They were talking about the gang members and how they were trying to stop the rioting because it hurts businesses or something. You can hear someone say "yeah, their only business is selling drugs, so of course they want to rioting to end".

Glory Days many drug dealer in Chicago have figure out that less police conflict/petty crime within their area the better for their business to operate. I’ve had dealing with commercial property insurance of one of my business. Many insurance companies no longer provide riot or looting insurance with standard policy coverage and if you’re located in red area they will not write a contract. Those of you OC in the insurance business, please correct me if I’m wrong.

In the future communities will have their own “street protection vigilantes” we see now in Baltimore "gang protection" then the punishment for looting, out of control rioting will be legal justified brutality.

Report on the news this AM said that over a hundred cars were burned and 15 buildings set afire in Monday's rioting. It's amazing how much damage the " 1% " can do, all the while the other 99% of peaceful protesters stand and watch. It's a good thing that we coddle and enable these violent criminals.... they need space to destroy.

Point out 1st degree felonious assault chargers and I'll agree with you there.
So, in your logic, second degree assault is NOT a violent crime? Come on Zwick, you are too smart to believe that. By definition of the law, 2nd degree assault results in "substantial bodily harm".

2nd degree assault is not classified by substantial bodily harm. First degree assault is classified by serious harm or intent to harm. 2nd degree is a catch all for anything else. That means you can put your hands on someone else unwantedly, and receive that charge. There need not be any physical harm.

I think instead of putting people in jail, we should have liberals adopt convicted criminals. After all, they aren't bad people, they are just misunderstood and reacting based on years of oppression. Remove the oppression by putting them in a home of tolerant caring liberals and everyone is better off.

The law disagrees with you Zwick. I could keep posting different states 2nd degree assault laws, but 50 links to prove you wrong is probably overboard.

You are probably thinking of reckless endangerment as a "catch all".

How about the actual law in Maryland instead an opinion link?

    http://mgaleg.maryland.gov/webmga/frmStatutesText.aspx?article=gcr&section=3-203&ext=html&session=2015RS&tab=subject5

So the Maryland law states it as "non-minor physical injury" instead of "substantial". Lawyer speak but they mean the same thing.

I have no doubt if it's charged as a felony 2 it was bodily harm. My question to you is where did you see it was an f2 and not an m2 where it's any Unwanted physical contact? Typically the only way to get a f2 assault is with multiple priors. Otherwise it's m2. But that's ohio. Maybe maryland is different.

Dude you send me a link from a different state which you intentionally twisted the words of the law, then you sent a link of the corect state that in no way implies substantial bodily harm? Lol wtf?

He's just expressing his frustration from slavery and oppression from white people by getting in fights and selling drugs. He is a sweet baby angel, his mother said so, and he didn't do nothing.

I didn't twist the words at all of the other states. The words for the other states say "substantial bodily harm", the one for Maryland says non-minor injuries. That seems like the same thing to me, just worded different.

    Yeah ... As one inclusion.
and the fact it's from Washington state means absolutely positively nothing here.

I think what I've learned is no amount of protesting, rioting, or looting is going to solve the problem of A) Good people making bad mistakes in a stressful environment, B) Bad people in positions of power making bad decisions. I still have yet to hear any solutions from the protesters other than killing cops and/or ignoring due process because of feelz.
