Terry_TateGot my first cell phone in 01 or 02, I've had 7 that I can remember but there may have been one more in the first few years that I'm not remembering. Still miss Snake from the early cell phones.
-
ernest_t_bassProbably 2002. Have had around 5-6 or so.
-
IliketurtlesI have had 6 total. I got my first one in 2003 it was a Nioka Tracphone. 2005 basic Verizon flip phone, 2007 LG Venus, 2009 Motorola Droid, 2011 Motorola Droid 2, 2013 Samsung Galaxy S4. Don't know if I'll be getting a new one this summer or not since my S4 is in really great shape. I also still have every one of these phones and their chargers expect for the Nioka.

Yea, snake was a lot of fun. I think mine had 1 more game on it too but I cant remember what. Also, the Super Mario Bros theme was my first ringtone. Good times.Terry_Tate;1704631 wrote:Got my first cell phone in 01 or 02, I've had 7 that I can remember but there may have been one more in the first few years that I'm not remembering. justincredibleGot my first cell phone in 2001 when I went to college. I've probably had 7 phones in that span.
Moto X
iPhone 5
HTC Evo
iPhone 3G
Various dumb phones -
GOONx19Four phones since 2007. First two were dumb phones, then iPhone 4s, then 5s when the 4s overheated and couldn't pick-up wifi anymore.
-
sportchamppsI got my first one in 2000 when I turned 16 and started driving. My mom wanted me to be able to call if anything happened. I'm not sure how many I've owned. I did however in college loose a phone then drop the replacement in water in less then a week. My parents felt bad though because I had torn my rotator cuff and dropped the phone in the water trying to answer their call while on crutches. Those are the only two phones I've ever lost or broke as well and it was 2 in the course of a week.
-
ernest_t_bassAnyone else have issues with the Apple lightning charger? I'm down to 1, out of about 5 we've owned.
-
GOONx19Have not had any issues.
-
GoChiefsDroid
Bionic
Thunderbolt
S4
Note 3
Note 4
I think I'm missing one between the Thunderbolt and S4. -

I forgot about customized ringtones. Haven't done that in years but that was great. I had The Office and How I Met Your Mother opening songs as my ringtones at some point, not sure of any others.Rotinaj;1704638 wrote:Yea, snake was a lot of fun. Uz2Bon36No idea how many phones I've had over the years. Only thing I'm sure of is that old Nokia was indestructible.
First cell phone I used was early 90's and considered a car phone, pretty sure the term "cell" phone was not around yet.

First was around 95-96. Was $25/month for 30 minutes of usage, and the home area was 4 counties!Belly35;1704606 wrote:Back in 1997 of 98 I got my first cell phone Nokia, next week I will be buying a new iPhone

I have had too many to count as I worked in the industry for 10 years. I currently still rock a motorola razor phone circa 2004. I have 3 of them, all in working order. I had a smart phone when people had no idea what they were. About 4-5 years ago I got out of the industry as I hated it with a passion. The last straw was going on vacation to Florida and seeing the family, and so many people, glued to their phones. I hated how the industry ran in terms of the parent company shitting on the actual dealers and undercutting them, and also hated what it was doing to people in wasting their lives staring at a little fucking screen all the time. Hell, was at a restaurant last night and every person in the party of 6 people next to us spent most of the time ignoring whom was next to them and played on their phones.
I can still get the web on my little razr phone that I usually only use when no one is around and I am bored, but other than that my phone is in my pocket and wasting none of my time.
I get it..some people need to spend time on it for work....but people waste too much time on it and ignore those around them. -

Had both of those. That little nokia phone kicked ass. The moto below it was a fucking brick, but there was a bigger phone called a bag phone that had like 3 watts of power. Some people held onto their bag phones as long as they could, they were all analog, because they could make calls where no other phones could!Uz2Bon36;1704657 wrote:No idea how many phones I've had over the years. OSHGot mine in 2003. I have the same number still. No clue on how many phones, but I imagine less than 10.

Belly rule is simple ... my house no cell phone, dinner no cell phone, visiting, family events, out for dinner , lunch or breakfast dads buying no cell phone. When I'm out with people and they are on their cell phone ... I ask if the kids are sick, grand kids in the hospital or EMS on the way to their parents house ... other than that they you're not important but the fact I took time out to be here is...thavoice;1704669 wrote:First was around 95-96. FatHobbitI don't remember when I first got a cell phone or how many I've had but I definitely remember the first time I saw someone talking on a cell phone on campus. I thought "what an ass hole. How important must you think you are if you need to be able to call someone at any time." lol I had the same thought the first time someone showed me their phone had Internet. "Really, you can't wait to go home to use the Internet?" How times have changed!

Well I did impose a cell phone ban when we go to sporting events. I gave them 1 inning, the 5th, to get on their phones.Belly35;1704713 wrote:Belly rule is simple ... my house no cell phone, dinner no cell phone, visiting, family events, out for dinner , lunch or breakfast dads buying no cell phone. Hence....they have not wanted to go the last two years, which is fine with me because taking 4-5 to a ballgame is expense. The rest...I have tried but when their mother is one of the worst culprits then well, it goes out the window. -
Fab4RunnerMy brother, SIL and their two kids have an hour of no tech time every night when they get home from work. No TV, phones, internet, etc.
I am pretty guilty of being on my phone at sporting events. I love Twitter during big events, so I like to follow along whether I am there or at home. I try to only check between innings, quarters, etc. I don't want to miss the actual game. -
TedShecklerThis was my first. I think around '97. Motorola flip phone. (Ameritech)
Then a Samsung SCH-8500 (Sprint PCS)
Treo (Sprint PCS)
Cingular 8125 (Cingular)
Then...
iPhone 3 (AT&T)
iPhone 3G (AT&T)
iPhone 4 (AT&T)
iPhone 4S (AT&T) -
ernest_t_bassIt's amazing how Sprint lead the way early, and is laughable now.
