It doesn't really change the liability issue.
  • Wolves of Babylon
If this were Avengers 2 and The Hulk ripped Kim Jongs head off, I doubt it would be pulled. Sony isn't worried about liability. They want to save face for all the leaks that occurred and feel this will make them look like good guys.

Claiming Liability even if true doesn't prevent Sony from showing cowardice.

Did the Avengers 2 and the Hulk have threats on the release of the movie? This isn't worth debating; I don't argue with morons except religious morons because I pity them.

I accept your concession. You obviously fold as easily as Sony.

I'm guessing this gets released on DVD in about a month after all the bullshit dies down.

I'd be shocked if they never release it.

LOL I have to continue to laugh at people who think that this is about "America"..."1st Amendment"...."surrender and capitulation"...."censorship"..."cowardice"...etc etc.

All the machismo and testosterone! All the righteous indignation!

This is about, and only about, Sony making a business decision to pull a MOVIE ( a comedic thriller) in the wake of violent threats. It is not "cowardice" on Sony's part...they have no obligation to be macho. They have no obligation to release this movie at all to prove a point or to stand up to terrorism. It's their money...and the only obligation they have is to their shareholders. The United States government, and the Constitution of the United States has absolutely NOTHING to do with Sony's decision.
This really is more about the internal decisions at Sony, that allowed this movie to be made, using real names and real countries and the failure to anticipate the reaction especially in this day and age.... and not being prepared to go forward in the face of the threats.

When you taunt the crazy man down the street, you had better be prepared for a reaction that is not rational by your standards, and it should have been pretty clear that when it comes to the Norks you are not going to get responses/reactions that reflect American values.

We are still at war with N Korea. We are in a cease fire. A peace agreement has never been made.

it is now open season for everybody to be threatened in this fashion.

free speech has been attacked by wicked people.

our founding fathers came to this land because of the oppression they endured at the hands of king george.

freedom of speech is the most basic and important right free thinking people have on this planet and it is something so many of our brave service men have fought and died for ...

if you are a veteran and did a tour in iraq or afghanastan as i have done then you know this is no joking manner .

sony and those actors capitulated and soon this will happen again . probably against a news organization or reporters with a large audience.

    ^^^yeah...attack the victim. Good strategy.

    Reps.

One of my biggest pet peeves is people throwing around the first amendment, like it gives you blanket immunity to say whatever the fuck you want without consequence.

I follow my local news station on Facebook and they put out a headline about this a few hours ago, and every dumbass hick from southwest Ohio started the "Where's our president", "Freedom of speech infringement!", "We turned into pussies!" comments.
Kinda interesting that Rogen hasn't tweeted since this all started a few days ago. Apparently he's going to be the big loser in all of this. No one supported the movie more than him and Sony actually modified the assassination scene to be a bit more mild which pissed him off.

Our luck sucks. Lose one dumbass, another one just becomes more prevalent.
HitsRus;1687467 wrote:I wonder who was the dumbass that approved going ahead and making this movie anyway. Didn't his mom ever teach him not to taunt thecrazy man down the street?
When I first saw the previews, I wondered what kind of backlash it'd receive. I'm more surprised it took this long for shit to hit the fan.

Maybe it will. But I doubt anyone wants to have their hands tied to this movie at the moment.

    Further more...
Satellite operators, cable providers, or digital portals that might be asked to pick up “The Interview” could be exposed to the same online harassment plaguing Sony.

i know what it means...i know what it was to see iraqi women beaten and tortured for the slightest of things .

you and that other clown live under the blanket of protection that people like me have sacrificed my very existence for.

what this was was an attack on freedom of expression with intimidation and scare tactics .

we are a sovereign nation with our own laws . we are not supposed to be under the thumb of a tiny countries ruthless regime.

laws were broken against an american corporation, and against american citizens ....laws .... do you understand that.......those people infringed on our basic human rights ... do you understand that ........... i think you do not comprehend very well ...

your very welcome from this service man for protecting your right to disagree with me no matter how wrong you are ......................... i wont break any laws against you for your expressions and rights .......when that happens that is unethical and unlawful...
