thavoiceTo me this brings up a few points.
1. What is wrong with kids that they dont listen to an authority figure? If a cop would would tell a kid something, the kid used to do whatever it would be. Total lack of respect for authority. Kid probably doesnt respect his parents or teachers either.
2. Assuming the cops had some sort of cover right? Obviously is a kid, and shooting isnt as easy as it looks like in the movies and on tv. He reaches for his gun......wait until he has it or whatever. That kid isnt gonna be quick-draw McGraw from the wild wild west and shoot ya.
I dont know...I always error on the side of authority and this kid has to be very fucking stupid to do such a thing, but stil.... -
sleeperCops yell "Put your hands up". Kid goes for a "gun" at his waistband. Kid is a dumbass.
Maybe black parents should teach black kids to LISTEN TO THE FUCKING COPS. -

Hell...any parents should tell their kids that. I think too many parents are allowing their kids to defy authority whether it be a coach, teachers, cops, other adults.......sleeper;1677879 wrote:Cops yell "Put your hands up". Kid goes for a "gun" at his waistband. Kid is a dumbass.

TedShecklerPoint realistic looking toy guns at people and you may end up getting shot with a real gun. Kid was dumb.

Or reach for it with the orange play cap removed when there are cops with guns drawn on you giving you orders.SportsAndLady;1677885 wrote:Or teach them not to carry a toy gun in public.
This is a non-story. -
I Wear PantsThis is why I want cops to wear cameras with microphones at all times. We'd know for sure what the cop saw and heard and what he said so there wouldn't even be a question of whether he did the correct thing.
It looks like he did do what they're trained to do in this circumstance so there shouldn't be any outcry as far as the "cops are bad" meme goes. That said it's still sad because even thought the kid apparently did something tremendously stupid I know I've done some dumb shit too and it would suck to end up dead because of it. -

Was still a 12 year old kid that just got show to death and didn't hurt anyone. I don't think that's funny or trivial. Again the officer didn't do anything wrong but I think it's troubling how many people seemingly get a kick out of what happened.Sonofanump;1677946 wrote:Darwin. -

Yeah, might as well place cameras and mics on everyone in this country while you are at it.I Wear Pants;1677916 wrote:This is why I want cops to wear cameras with microphones at all times. No, just the people who have legal authority to shoot other people as part of their jobs and can force you into a cage under the right circumstances. It would protect cops just as much as anyone else. Do you not want there to be evidence when they arrest someone of a crime? I don't get why police wouldn't want this.like_that;1677957 wrote:Yeah, might as well place cameras and mics on everyone in this country while you are at it. -

It's a waste of money for starters, and Id prefer police to do their job without worrying what big brother is going to do to them for their every little action.I Wear Pants;1677966 wrote:No, just the people who have legal authority to shoot other people as part of their jobs and can force you into a cage under the right circumstances. Because there are too many cops that are just as corrupt as the criminals they are arresting. Also, if the cop screws up just slightly while making the arrest and the guy is found innocent or the case is dismissed...then the cop looks like the dumbass (on camera and mic'd) and maybe loses his job for it!I Wear Pants;1677966 wrote:I don't get why police wouldn't want this. -

We give them guns and let them arrest people. That extra authority comes with procedures they have to follow. We should take steps to ensure they do just that and to protect them from people who say otherwise. Could have saved a lot of time and money in Ferguson if there was video of the kid attacking the cop.Old Rider;1677972 wrote:Because there are too many cops that are just as corrupt as the criminals they are arresting. Not trying to be trivial or funny, just factual. If you are not smart enough not to present a firearm (fake or not) toward an officer, then being killed is a distinct possibility.I Wear Pants;1677954 wrote:Was still a 12 year old kid that just got show to death and didn't hurt anyone. Why did he have a real looking fake firearm at a playground?
Maybe I don't get it, I was raised by two intelligent parents, I would not think of such an action toward an officer beyond age of 6. -

Absolutely. I don't get why the kid would do it but then all I have is articles. Maybe the kid was trying to be cool or tough or something stupid. Maybe he was just scared and was going to put the gun on the ground because that was his first thought. Who knows?Sonofanump;1677998 wrote:Not trying to be trivial or funny, just factual. No matter how stupid it's still sad when the non-malicious actions of a 12 year old gets them killed. I feel bad for the cop because he must feel awful. Even though he followed procedure it'd be easy to feel guilty after you know that it wasn't a real gun and you weren't in any danger. Add to it the idiots that might condemn him for his actions and that's got to be tough to deal with. Shitty situation for everyone. -
Belly35This is where "weapon education" is required. Dumbing down society .. Needs to relearn the common sense mentality...

Yeah and maybe criminals are just misunderstood. Typically liberal cry baby bullshit. Kid was a dumbass; there's no way around this.I Wear Pants;1677999 wrote:Absolutely. Those cops could be in trouble. As I suspected, the cops had sufficient cover. There is no reason why they couldnt have stayed behind the vehicle and not shot until it was imminent the kid was gonna shoot. Looked pretty empty atthat place so there wasnt a ton of people around in dangerZWICK 4 PREZ;1678892 wrote:yeah that was awful fast. Wtf
