Breastfeeding In Public???

    The wife nursed both kids for most of their first year, and never hesitated to feed them when we were out in public. But she was an absolute master of discretion and wardrobe, and we were always careful to choose out-of-way locations when doing things like choosing seats in a restaurant. Most times you'd never know what she was doing.

    Not that she was terribly shy about them in the first place.

    People need to realize that a woman's breast is in fact a feeding mechanism for children, not a part of the body that should be immediately thought of as sexual in nature. I have never had a problem with women doing this in public and my wife does it as well with a cover due to society concerns with feeding in public because breasts are synonymous with sex (wrong). Considering it inappropriate shows a lack of intelligence on the intended use of a woman's breast.

    Not rattled by tits. Already stated that it's fine as long as its covered; similar to the same stance as jmog indicated earlier. The logic used by guy about a breast being a non-sexual thing because its used to feed babies is what set off the 'logic not detected' bomb similar to the one used at OU every day.

There are girls out there where touching their breasts does nothing for them.     I think you just made a point in my favor. Any body part can be considered sexual if you want it to. A penis is used to piss out of, but also a sexual organ. Breasts are used to feed young, but also have a sexual function. So why is ok for breasts to be out but not penises?

    No embarrassment here, just logical thinking. No one really cares about breastfeeding in public, but cover up. There really is no excuse not to.

    The fact that this thread was created indicates that people care, even when you cover up. Others in this thread have shared the opinion that breastfeeding in public, no matter how discreet, is inappropriate. So to say no one cares is innacurate.

    Yes, any body part could be considered sexual, that doesn't mean they should have to be covered up. Society views breasts as sexual no matter what the context, hence women can't run around topless. This also leads to skewed thoughts on if breastfeeding in public is acceptable. Those that don;t think it is acceptable need to realize that there is more breast skin exposed at a beach than the section you may happen to see when a baby is breastfeeding.
