But I was referring to all of these...

How in the hell is the OC #1 for most of you? Place is fairly dead anymore

The last time I was on JJ's (over a year ago), the place was on life support and it seems like a lot of the posts on Yappi are just a user with multiple alters (see "said/salto" over here) trolling the site. It's gotten so bad in their general forum that Yappi himself is starting multiple threads to create chat.

I imagine forums could come back around a little more, but they won't be what they used to be. We all know what JJ used to be. I don't know what Yappi, SEOPreps, or Rocket Corner used to be, I probably have only read them in the last 5ish years. For the MVL Forum, a lot of it is the original users have grown up and moved on (not around the area anymore, families, etc.)...but, I also think that many don't know about it (the MVL Forum started 13 years ago, with no marketing but word of mouth and 1 newspaper article). If the forums want to survive, they have to do some marketing -- especially if they are as specific as the MVL Forum is (location and sports). Like any other website, if they want to be "good," they cannot just continue to operate by word of mouth or on their old members.
Can they rebound from the grave? Maybe not completely, but could at least get more participation.
