Not here. I know my personal policy (which I haven't had to actually use other than maybe in the mod forum, since I've never received any "come at me bro!" style PMs) would be that whether you're sending it private or not doesn't mean I have to keep it that way. And if you come off as a threatening creep or a complete idiot, there's nothing stopping me from giving others the chance to see it for whatever reason. No doctor-patient confidentiality sort of stuff going on here!dlazz;1599999 wrote:I thought it was a rule. Maybe I'm thinking of somewhere else -

It's considered a bitch move on some boards, against the rules on others.dlazz;1599999 wrote:I thought it was a rule. Maybe I'm thinking of somewhere else -
IggyPride00Posting PM's is shady. If whoever sent them wanted everyone else to see it they would have just posted it in the thread in which the conflict was happening.
That flies in the face of having the peanut gallery be able to point and laugh, but none the less it is a pretty childish thing to do. -

wildcats20I'm sorry but if a PM is sooooo serious and personal to you, you have some issues.
This is a God damn internet message board. NO ONE on here is THAT important. -

I can see that...but the flipside of the argument is that sending the PM is usually one-sided. If you send an unwanted or uninvited PM to someone, I'd say it's fair game for them to respond to it in any manner they choose.IggyPride00;1600006 wrote:Posting PM's is shady. If they choose to engage in a conversation via PM, then I'd agree with you. But if someone is going to send me a harassing or threatening, or just plain idiotic rant in PM, then I'm probably going to share it and laugh at them (because it's likely the appropriate response). People don't have carte blanche to attack or troll someone just because they did it via PM. -

And yes, obviously there are exceptions to this.wildcats20;1600011 wrote:I'm sorry but if a PM is sooooo serious and personal to you, you have some issues.

I don't see it as a matter of importance. If someone wants to say something to me privately, online or IRL, I'm going to tend to honor that.wildcats20;1600011 wrote:I'm sorry but if a PM is sooooo serious and personal to you, you have some issues.

Like, if I do some mod-type stuff and someone PMs me to disagree, cool. Private conversation.
If that someone goes off on a "fuck this place" rant based on that mod-type stuff, I'll probably post it in the mod forum in a "this is what I did; this is their response" sort of thing.
If that someone goes off on a "fuck you keyboard kop; you're not so tough, let's meet up and I'll show you" sort of thing, I'd probably post it publicly just to mock them for being an idiot.

Precisely. If you disrespect someone in a PM, don't expect them to extend you any courtesy.Heretic;1600027 wrote: MORAL OF THE STORY: Don't be an idiot. Or you'll be ridiculed. -

Bro, do you have a passport? The pm I posted from hang_loose had to be shared. It'd be a crime NOT to.IggyPride00;1600006 wrote:Posting PM's is shady. If whoever sent them wanted everyone else to see it they would have just posted it in the thread in which the conflict was happening.

friendfromlowryIf you get worked up enough to threaten a stranger via PM, offering to actually meet up with them, you deserve the ridicule.
