Laley23Fire away with some suggestions on where to live and where to eat if you have them. Ill be sure to check out any and all places (apartment will be where we live). Fiancé is a teacher, so if you have any recommendations on good districts near the area as well, Id appreciate the input.
Thanks. -

I will go with the under. With Laley having a new job he probably will be putting in more hours, and she will get lonely and want to fit in at the schools.Raw Dawgin' it;1582311 wrote:Over under 2.5 years before she's in jail for blowing a student?
but anyways....
Goodluck man. STay in contact with IU hoops and set us straight on here. Dont know much about NC other than the Fayetteville area.....of which isnt worth know anyways! -
se-alumCongrats! Have always said that's one of the few places I would move to. From what I hear, Cary is a very nice little town, and only like 10 minutes from the Raleigh/Durham area.
Check out this website. You can request a free relocation packet.

wildcats20My dad lives outside the city, about 20 minutes from NCSU, in a smaller city called Zebulon. It is small, but nice. I don't know if I would recommend that area for a younger couple, not sure you're exact age. You really can't go wrong, other than downtown Durham, which is a terrible area. There's also this place, you might have heard of it, called Chapel Hill. It's fantastic.

Working for a company called SportMedia Technology (SMT). They are a Computer Graphics company who acts as a 3rd party for the major networks. If you think of the first down line, score and time (scorebug), the player identifiers in a crowd (horse racing uses this a lot), Virtual Putt line on golf telecasts etc...thats all them.Pick6;1582335 wrote:Congrats. To start, I will be doing some cycling as they may be sending me to France for the Tour de France. But more than likely I will end up on Notre Dame or ACC football in the fall. We travel to the site the day the truck arrives for whoever is broadcasting. We set up all the technology and cameras for our stuff, and then have a tie in to the networks truck that they can take our feed whenever they want to use it. Thats the best way I can explain it without using a bunch of terms and stuff nobody will understand lol.
Here is a good overview of the bigger products currently in use http://www.smt.com/products
EDIT: Ideally, I will be on Thursday Night Football (SMT just finalized a contract with CBS when CBS finalized the rights to TNF) or SNF this fall, but I doubt I will get that with so few months on the job. Probably more likely I will be on those in 2015. -

Zebulon is a growing area. It's nice, I know nothing about the school system though. My dad has neighbors in their 30s, 40s and everything above. All the kids on his court go to or went to private schools.Laley23;1582341 wrote:Im 28 in June, fiance just turned 25 in October. -

ZoltanI lived in Durham for one year when I was 23. The area around the ball park (Durham Bulls) and a few places around Duke's campus are the only places I really went. There are parts of the city that are pretty dangerous.
Chapel Hill is good times! Not much knowledge on Raleigh, although Carey is very nice. -
SonofanumpBelle Knox goes to school down there.

arnie palmerCongrat's Laley 23 on your move to NC. I moved my family from OH to NC 2 years ago and we love it (live in Mooresville and work in Hickory). I have only been to Raliegh area a couple times since we have lived in NC to go to college basketball games, so do not have much input on housing.
I do know that Wake County schools and particularly Cary schools are some of the best in the state. Cary has 3 out of top 10 and 4 out of top 20 ranked elementary schools in the state so your fiance should try to get a teaching job there. Do you and your fiance know that NC is one of the lowest paying states for teachers - like 48 out of 50 states? They have not had a raise for 3-4 years? There are a ton of charter schools starting up evey year here as well, pulling state funds from public, county schools. One of the big issues is that NC property taxes are very low in most counties (were 1/3 of my OH property taxes) and school funding not that good from that.

Classyposter58You'll be right at home, it's like Ohio South with all the Buckeyes that have moved into that area. Very nice area though, like a bigger and warmer version of C-Bus
