If you move to the right area you'll be able to get Google Fiber soon enough. I'd be jealous of that.

Looking at NC also. Especially the research triangle area as IT is huge. Once my husband finishes his degree in education he will be looking for a teaching job. I know NC is always looking for teachers from the north to come down.

Been in the Triangle for about 6 years now. If you are moving to RDU, where is the firm going to be located. Commutes can be hell by Ohio standards if you are coming down 40. It depends on what side of Raleigh you want to live in. Zebulon is a pretty fair piece down the road from downtown Raleigh and to be honest isn't worth the lower cost of living. Try Brier Creek, Crabtree Valley, anything on Wade Ave Downtown, or North Raleigh near Ravenscroft on Falls of Neuse Road. Its hard to go wrong when it comes to Raleigh. Its all pretty quality. Durham is sketch as hell in most parts, but it has soul and one of the best food scenes in the country. Raleigh is just like Columbus, its an amalgamation of transplants from all over the country and the rest of the state.

I love Durham and would recommend it to you if you were wanting true southern charm with an edge that isn't suburbia.

Also in regards to teachers, there is no room for teachers in good schools down here. If you want a teaching job you will end up at Durham Hillside or Jordan Matthews. Those are the largest schools have the highest turnover rate for teachers and seem to be the only jobs avail in Wake or Durham county. Good luck.
