mcburg93Garden looks good so far. Having a smaller garden this year is going to be a plus.

friendfromlowryNeed tips on growing strawberries. Bought a couple of starter plants the other day already about 4-6 inches tall but nothing growing yet. I put them in the ground and the next day they're nearly dead. Watered them and brought them back to life somewhat, but still look like shit. The spot gets sun most of the day. They need more sun? Less sun? A lot of watering? Better luck?

all plants will have some root shock when first planted... Add a little potting soil around the plant, water lightly for 3-4 days... Note they will spread, you may want to get a nylon netting to cover then or you may not get to enjoy the fruitfriendfromlowry;1620494 wrote:Need tips on growing strawberries. I know it's too late now, but if you soak the plant roots in water for a few hours before transplanting to garden, that can help as well. I just planted some strawberry starts and so far, so good. I didn't soak them first though.friendfromlowry;1620494 wrote:Need tips on growing strawberries. Bought a couple of starter plants the other day already about 4-6 inches tall but nothing growing yet. BRFOff to Lowes to get some rabbit spray. Little ass-holes ate my corn down to nub last night.
I heard human hair works pretty good, too. -
WallyWife planted several tomato plants, a zuchini and pepper plants last Thursday. Went away for weekend-Nothing left. Rabbits ate it all.
-
cruiser_96BRF: I'd get a Red Ryder Carbine Action 200-shot Range Model air rifle with a compass in the stock - one that tells time if you have the funds - before I bought spray.
Ever er made rabbit stew? -

BRFI'm trying the spray first and see what happens. If it doesn't work, THEN I will start the killing.
Cruiser: I don't like rabbit stew because there is too much HARE in it! Bwah wah!
Belly: Who is this friend? Oh, wait, I get it.....it's you! C4.....ha ha!
BTW: Wally- the rabbits have not touched my peppers or tomatoes.....yet. -
friendfromlowryGetting tired of having to water every day. Looks like tonight it's finally going to rain. I don't think we've got any in the past 10-12 days.

mcburg93Planted some blackberry and black raspberry today 25 of each. have some blackberry and red raspberries in a patch but its pretty out of control. Put these in a row and will be able to trim them when needed.

justincredible
I cannot wait until I have enough land to accommodate a large blackberry patch. My grandma has a ton of them on her property so I grew up with an essentially unlimited supply of them. It was pretty awesome.mcburg93;1622218 wrote:Planted some blackberry and black raspberry today 25 of each. have some blackberry and red raspberries in a patch but its pretty out of control. The extent of my "gardening" this year. Will add some goldfish, and probably some plants.
What's a good garden fish to have that'll help keep the water clean? -
