I'm not out to burn bridges, but this is just a shitty place to work. I didn't even bother approaching them to match the offer I received.like_that;1568478 wrote:That's your fault.
I don't care if they know. -

This times 1000! If you take time out of work to go talk to someone, they owe you a response. I hate this with a passion. Coward behavior by unprofessional people. If you don't have the balls to be an adult and give bad news, you shouldn't be in a hiring position.dlazz;1568475 wrote:Yeah, it was really goddamn stupid.
It's unreal how heartless companies are. I only have about a 40% success rate of hearing back ANY response after an interview. Usually I just go interview and hear nothing back. I'd even be content with getting a No, but instead I was spending a lot of time in limbo.
That's even with me asking for an update. Nothing at all. -

I agree. It is not surprising since 95% of HR is employed by females. Anyway, this is just another reason why not to feel bad leaving an employer (unless of course you work somewhere like Justin's place of work).Raw Dawgin' it;1568505 wrote:This times 1000! Last day on the job, on a friday... Yeah I would have left a long time ago. DGAF if they know my future employer. Quit being a pushover.dlazz;1568518 wrote:Update: I'm still fucking here -

Oh my gosh, you actually gave them the contact information for your current supervisor? You can NOT be serious.dlazz;1568465 wrote:Last spring I made it to the final interview and was asked to come in and meet the Dean of the school. I was told that I'd get an offer within a few days.
A week later I pinged them and asked for an update and was told that the Dean instructed them to broaden their job search.
Bonus: they had already checked my references and forced me to use my current supervisor as one of them... So he knew I was looking and had no job offer. -

They specifically asked for it. They said he would only be contacted if I were the final candidate, so I went ahead and forked it over.jmog;1568538 wrote:Oh my gosh, you actually gave them the contact information for your current supervisor? You can NOT be serious.
I finally got out of there. I was given the OK to leave 'early' around 4:45. -

In my career, if you don't give your current supervisor's contact information, your stuff may be tossed out immediately. It does not look good if you don't put your current supervisor's information down. So, I would have to keep a good relationship and a good line of communication with my superior. Now, there is a lot that can come in to play with this too -- being sought out, better relationship and line of communication with potential suitor, or some other aspect.jmog;1568538 wrote:Oh my gosh, you actually gave them the contact information for your current supervisor? Its more to protect from potential lawsuits then anything. Sometimes it better for the company to say nothing at all then for them to say something and have it twisted.Raw Dawgin' it;1568505 wrote:This times 1000! Couldn't they just send you a letter or an email? It would be hard to twist what they said in writing.gport_tennis;1568651 wrote:Its more to protect from potential lawsuits then anything. Sometimes it better for the company to say nothing at all then for them to say something and have it twisted. -

I think it's just laziness on their part. There are ways to tell people they weren't selected without opening themselves up to litigation.I Wear Pants;1568702 wrote:Couldn't they just send you a letter or an email? It would be hard to twist what they said in writing.
Universities are especially guilty of it. OSU was basically the only one I went to where they were pretty quick to tell me I wasn't selected. I interviewed at Kent State and Youngstown State and didn't hear a word. -

No, it's kinda hard to do that still living in the city on less than a tenth of an acre.Pick6;1568660 wrote:JIC- finally taking up homesteading huh?
