    It's unreal how heartless companies are. I only have about a 40% success rate of hearing back ANY response after an interview. Usually I just go interview and hear nothing back. I'd even be content with getting a No, but instead I was spending a lot of time in limbo.

    This times 1000! If you take time out of work to go talk to someone, they owe you a response. I hate this with a passion. Coward behavior by unprofessional people. If you don't have the balls to be an adult and give bad news, you shouldn't be in a hiring position.

    I agree. It is not surprising since 95% of HR is employed by females. Anyway, this is just another reason why not to feel bad leaving an employer (unless of course you work somewhere like Justin's place of work).

    They specifically asked for it. They said he would only be contacted if I were the final candidate, so I went ahead and forked it over.

    I finally got out of there. I was given the OK to leave 'early' around 4:45.

    In my career, if you don't give your current supervisor's contact information, your stuff may be tossed out immediately. It does not look good if you don't put your current supervisor's information down. So, I would have to keep a good relationship and a good line of communication with my superior. Now, there is a lot that can come in to play with this too -- being sought out, better relationship and line of communication with potential suitor, or some other aspect.

    Its more to protect from potential lawsuits then anything. Sometimes it better for the company to say nothing at all then for them to say something and have it twisted.

    Couldn't they just send you a letter or an email? It would be hard to twist what they said in writing.

    I think it's just laziness on their part. There are ways to tell people they weren't selected without opening themselves up to litigation.

    Universities are especially guilty of it. OSU was basically the only one I went to where they were pretty quick to tell me I wasn't selected. I interviewed at Kent State and Youngstown State and didn't hear a word.
