Game of Thrones - Season 4 (TV Show Discussion Only)

AutomatikThere are some .gifs from another forum that go along with my necklace theory.
Shall I post?
Not really a spoiler, just speculation. -

Yeah, that whole scene was kind of odd last week. And the guy that gave her the necklace is, I think, the one who gets her out of there. I don't think he's smart or brave enough to pull that off, either.Automatik;1604887 wrote:I'm not saying Sansa was the mastermind behind, just that her necklace seems to be involved....to me at least. -
Rotinaj
Yes I knew he was getting poisoned at the wedding but S&L also mentioned who did it being spoiled and I don't remember that part. Which is great honestly.gut;1604886 wrote:Someone "spoiled" that something was going to happen at the wedding....just never knew when that damn wedding was actually going to get here.
But you kind of had to know something big was going to happen, just based on how long of a scene that was. When Joffrey was torturing Tyrion, I thought for sure he was going to march out his whore and execute her with his new sword. -

As long as its gifs of whats happened (not likely it would be future episodes, but shit is always leaked lol) I see no issue at all.Automatik;1604891 wrote:There are some .gifs from another forum that go along with my necklace theory.

I mean, she's just too weak and useless to rely on for such a plot. What, did they think she was going to toss beads at his cup, like she was playing quarters or something?Automatik;1604891 wrote:There are some .gifs from another forum that go along with my necklace theory.

Here, Sansa, take this necklace. Wear it always, and p.s. it's really poison. "Oh, why thank you, what a sweet and thoughtful gift". -
AutomatikI knew Joff was gonna be off'd eventually just from random rumblings. Everyone knew it was coming. I expected to be at the wedding, but had no clue he would be poisoned. I actually wanted something a bit more agonizing, but that scene was still badass.
I'll post the gifs in a few. -
Laley23The old lady, in her speech to Tyrian and Sansa was all about how horrible it was for her brother and mother to be killed at a wedding. That had to mean something, or it was a great misdirection.

And I have no idea which, so I go back to the fact it benefits her family more for Joffrey to live, at least a little while longer. Her daughter could handle Joffrey, and if she couldn't then she probably would have killed him herself...probably some time AFTER getting pregnant so she would one day be Queen Regent (like Cersei). -
Laley23Good shit. Im kinda on that train now also. Joffrey didnt get choked up until the second time he drank (also coinciding with the cake).

I agree. The only thing would be maybe that at the wedding, it was much easier to frame someone else.gut;1604902 wrote:Yes.

AutomatikOk, so if they are all in on it.....how did they know those events would take place? Such as Joff being a dick to Tyrion.
Or they just planned to get it in his cup anyway possible, and that situation arose and there you have it. -
HereticWhile I'm more familiar with the books than the show, I think all you need is a nice handy "suspect chart" to crack the case!
Such as:
CHARACTERS WITHOUT MOTIVE TO KILL JOFFREY
His mom
Uh, does the show have a handful of Kingsguard members who are totally in his mom's pocket? If so, them too.
CHARACTERS WITH MOTIVE TO KILL JOFFREY
Everyone else. Every. Damn. One. Of. Them.
So, for you guys who have been watching a lot of the more recent story-driven drama series, where will Joffrey wind up on the "MOST LOATHSOME CHARACTER OF ALL TIME" list? Top 5? 3? 1? -
Manhattan Buckeye"how did they know those events would take place? Such as Joff being a dick to Tyrion."
Because Joffrey is always a dick to Tyrion, especially in public events. -
Laley23To go along with that, Tyrian had a nice response lined up which he had to have known would get him shit all over.
Lots of great clues/planted misdirection in that scene. Truly some of HBOs best work. -

The old lady is a nice theory, and it totally explains everything about the part of the fool. Maegery(sp?) herself could have probably easily done it at any time without notice.Automatik;1604906 wrote:Ok, so if they are all in on it.....how did they know those events would take place? I just don't buy the idea that they would piss-away the throne just because Joffrey is a spoiled brat.
Let's not forget about Cersei, either. She is cold enough to murder her own son, and she has clearly lost power and control of Joffrey. Now with Joffrey out of the way, Tommen will replace him and she can go back to her familiar role as Queen Regent. -

Fuckin pissed me off lol -
gutTywin and Cersei are the only ones I see with something to gain from Joffrey's death, and something to lose if Maegery comes to control him (as it appeared she eventually would).
Pretty much everyone else has better reasons NOT to have done it (at least not right here and now) than they do to have done it. Red Viper, maybe, but not sure poison would satisfy his need for revenge. -
bases_loadedAre all Cersei's kids Jamies?
-
AutomatikI don't know about the daughter they shipped off, but along with Joffrey, Tommen has to be.
-
TedShecklerYes
Robert had kids, but they are all bastards with various women. Gendry being the only one of importance on the show. -
Manhattan Buckeye
yup, but he doesn't seem to care about them.bases_loaded;1605674 wrote:Are all Cersei's kids Jamies? -

Can't blame him for Joffrey.Manhattan Buckeye;1605901 wrote:yup, but he doesn't seem to care about them.
But it does seem strange that he's transforming into a good guy but still, apparently, has no feelings for his children. Maybe do to the fact he's still trying to win his own father's approval. -

What's the process of being legitimitized or whatever? If it takes someone with control of the throne to do that, and thereby conceding control of the throne as a result (meaning no one would do it)...then why is he relevant?TedSheckler;1605679 wrote:Gendry being the only one of importance on the show.
I'm not looking for spoilers here...but if Gentry doesn't have a legit claim to the throne as a bastard, then none of this makes any sense as his existence ultimately set most of this in motion. -
TedShecklerGendry doesn't play a part when it comes to being king, but he does play a big role in the future.
Also, last season Melisandre used him because he is in Roberts bloodline.
