Lights out for the incandescent light bulb as of Jan. 1, 2014
i have change some of my home light bulbs over the year but I have 200 60watt incandescent at the warehouse.... I think I will be still using incandescent for sometime
the power company contacted me about my warehouse and wanted to come in and give me an estimate on upgrading the warehouse lighting to a more efficient. One of my friends who also has a warehouse fell for the estimated offer. Bottom line 6000.00 buck and a lighting system that requires the EPA to change bulbs.... No thanks -

This makes me wonder... will the coal-fired power plant that supplies Belly's electricity be closed down before he uses up his cache of incandescent bulbs? -

At last count in my house I have 58 light bulb socket + / - I would estimate that about half are the newer type, basement, garage, work bench, attic, shed are still old incandesent. Maybe I replace in those area two or three bulbs per year. -

You could replace 200 incandescent 60 watt bulbs yourself for about $75

Given the mercury content involved with the new bulbs, it wouldn't surprise me if there are special regulations regarding commercial use/replacement that might include the EPA or possibly OSHA.

My friend warehouse is about the same size as mine, so looking a $6000.00 and that is with the discount, rebate and tax break he said…
Like he said until his business has a better growth outlook, shows a better profit, increase in business and can get some of his staff back … $6000.00 is not going to happen anytime soon -

I'm not sure of the pay back time frame, it could have been a five year projected program. But I can tell you this no matter what the pay back time peroid is .... Lighting is not a priority. Problem is may smaller business don't have that $6000.00 nor do they want to finance for lighting.
