I was speaking for myself. Why would you assume otherwise?

Although anger is a normal emotion, it's intensity is usually based on the level of importance we place on the instigating trigger. We choose that importance level. A sports loss may not have been chosen to be as important as one's family and some horrible event like you described in your example.

The physical reaction and behavior portion of anger are completely controllable while the cognitive portion may not be entirely controllable but dictated by the importance we place on the triggering event.
So you disagree with what Belly said? Because there should be no anger expressed in an event out of your control based on what he said.

    Are you on the spectrum?

In some instances I would disagree with Belly. It has been debated by psychologists whether there are benefits to anger in situations like your hypothetical. It may not be a waste to be angry.

Sorry, I don't know what you mean by that.

Right - but to say getting angry over things you can't control is a waste of energy, period, is ridiculous.

I'm extremely pissed this dumbass thread has gone on this long.

You know what made me more upset than any other sporting event?

The Eastern Conference Finals in 2009 when the Cavs were eliminated by the Magic. I can't really explain why...I'm not a big NBA fan and it still bothered me to watch them lose how they did.

Fucking Rashard Lewis. I went to two of those games in Cleveland. Other than Lebron, the entire team was ice cold that series.

I don't feel angry over a loss. Sometimes I'd characterize myself as dissapointed or bummed and that can go on indefinitely. For example, the 1998 loss by the Buckeyes to Michigan State was kind of an "aw shucks" thing and I still shake my head at that one. THere are others like it. But as far as feeling angry to the point where I'm mad and expressive about it, never. I never felt mad even when the sports teams I played on lost. I never understood my teammates that cried or blew there top at losses. I've come to the conclusion that I'm not that competitive of a person. This is both a pro and a con.

    I-am-a-robot-who-does-not-feel-human-emotions-like-anger-but-I-was-programmed-to-believe-it-may-have-benefits-to-do-so-therefore-if-I-was-human-I-would-like-to-experience-this-emotion-in-order-to-analyze-the-truth-of-this-statement.

You don't necessarily have to experience it to analyze it but I wish you luck with your efforts.
