Meh...She (Jada) is fighting the symptoms and not the problem. It should also be noted that there aren't many other black actors that are following her and Spike's plan (see above Aunt Viv video). The problem is lack of roles. More roles = more chances to be eligible. If you really want to boycott, then boycott going to the movie, or boycott a director/producer that is some how denying roles to minorities. Don't just boycott the awards, that's stupid and pointless.

I saw Concussion. Will was good, but no way he gets an Oscar nod for that. In the last two years, the only black actor that got snubbed was David Oyelowo for his portrayal of MLK in Selma last year. You could throw in Idris Elba in Beasts of No Nation, but I believe that film was only released on Netflix? I don't even think it's eligible. Other than that...who else even gets a mention? No one that I can think of.

Which is why everyone laugh's at Jada and all the SJW out there who just see no black nominees, so they assume the Academy are racists.

I agree that there is a problem in Hollywood with casting black actors/actresses (see: outrage over a storm trooper being black in Star Wars, smh)...so focus on that, don't just yell racism every chance you get.

Watched quite a few movies for the first time in the last week.

The entire Harry Potter series: 8/10 -- Enjoyable. I'd never seen any of these before, but in light of Alan Rickman's passing, I figured I'd give them a whirl. A little slow, and a few of the characters seem simplistic, but it was entertaining, and the writing and acting were fantastic overall.

The Big Short: 9/10 -- Everyone hit in this one. Steve Carell and Christian Bale were fantastic. The writing was on and believable. Ryan Goslin's character seemed a little contrived, but it was hard to tell if that was the writing or the acting.

Creed: 9/10 -- I enjoyed Rocky Balboa, but I fully admit that it wasn't that great a movie. This one was fantastic, though. Michael B. Jordan is excellent, and while I don't think I've ever seen Tessa Thompson in anything, she did a great job as well.

Also The Last Witch Hunter: 5.5/10 -- Stereotypical Vin Diesel movie with less-than-average plot. Make no mistake: It's still entertaining if you enjoy gratuitous violence, but otherwise, there's not much to it. It WAS odd seeing Vin Diesel, Michael Cain, and Elijah Wood in the same movie, though.

I'm currently reading, well listening on audiobook, the Harry Potter series. I've seen all of the movies and loved every one. Without getting into a "the book is better than the movie" debate, it's cool to compare the differences between the film and book. There are characters that are completely omitted from the film. Also, RIP Alan Rickman...

Tessa Thompson hasn't been in much. She was the lead in "Dear White People" which was terrible. Her character was annoying, and the storyline sucked. But...she was easy on the eyes so there's that. I hear she's great in Creed.

Still haven't seen The Big Short. I may go this weekend to check it out. Glad others are liking it too.

I would urge you to see The Big Short if you can. I was not sure what to expect out of Carell playing a not-so-funny role, as I've only seen him in comedies, so I was a little surprised to find that he has at least some range.

He was nominated for an Oscar for Foxcatcher. It's a good movie.

I never ended up seeing this, because I'd heard some people on here poo poo it. Made it sound like it wasn't my kind of film, but hell, I may have to give it a shot after his performance in The Big Short.

If you liked Foxcatcher I recommend the 30 for 30 on it. Prince of Pennsylvania. Much better than the movie imo.
