    The Amazing Spider-Man - 7/10

I am more of a Batman girl, so that's a strike against it from the start. I really liked Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker, and Emma Stone is perfection in my book. Other than that, it was meh for me.

    The two Hobbit movies.

They were well-done. That style of fantasy isn't really my cup of tea, but they still kept me engaged. 8/10

Last night I watched the MST3K riff of Pod People. Deserves a 9/10 simply due to its horrible attempt to meld the E.T.-esque "kid bonds with cute baby monster" genre with the "homicidal alien monster kills annoying people right and left" genre.

Bonus points for things such as how most people were killed via one punch or simply getting pushed forcefully and for just how horrible the "rock band" that composed many of the characters were.

Also for how the biggest jerk in the band was one of the few survivors and for how the E.T. plotline was resolved by the kid realizing that the young monster would not be able to exist with people after the older one was such a killing machine, so he simply abandoned it in the woods, even though the monster seems utterly devastated by its friend dumping it.

And how the kid's lines were dubbed by an adult woman to make him seem more creepy than like a generic cute movie kid. And how, for a couple guys constantly talking about going back to town and keeping a low profile, the two main poachers (the human villains whose actions set off the monster's rampage) seemed to constantly take actions that definitely seemed designed to attract attention.

One of those perfect films for good, wholesome riffing!

Watching Non Stop. I don't expect an award winning flick but I'm sure it will be entertaining.

    Non-Stop
    6.5/10

The mystery of it was pretty nice, but the tempo was WAY too slow.

Dallas buyers club 9/10 great acting with a good story

Plan on catching Dallas Buyers Club this weekend.

After watching Matthew McConaughey for five minutes in The Wolf of Wall Street, I am a believer. That one scene alone has elevated him onto my top ten favorite actors list. He deserved an Oscar for each and every one of those 300 seconds he was on screen. The performance was that damn good. Among the pantheon of all-time great scene-stealing moments in movie history, it ranks right there next to anytime Val Kilmer is on the screen in Tombstone, the crabmeat scene with John Candy in JFK, and Heath Ledger prompting audiences to forget about Batman in a Batman movie.

Watched "The Impossible" on Showtime or HBO last night.

Hadn't even heard of it...but had a good "Rotten Tomato" score on DirecTV and I saw that it had Naomi Watts and Ewan McGregor in it.

I would give it a 9/10. I figured I'd turn it off halfway through and go to bed, but it kept my wife and I on the edge of our seats. Intense, great acting and has several "tug at the heart string" moments (especially if you're a parent).

If you haven't watched it, check it out for sure. BONUS- You get to see Namoi Watts' tits (again).

The Impossible is based on the experience of María Belón and her family in the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami.

Always felt that way about Alec Baldwin in Glengarry Glen Ross.

Matthew McConaughey could always act. Just chose terrible roles in the middle of his career.

Early on, Amistad, U-571 and A Time To Kill are tremendous roles that he does a fantastic job in. Then he went all "hunk" and played the part in too many chick flicks.

Thankfully, he has reverted back to serious acting roles. I thought he would be nominated for Mud the first time I saw it. True Detective will earn some awards on the television side and obviously Dallas Buyers Club was awesome. Even Lincoln Lawyer was good, and the 1st role back to serious (We Are Marshal aside) after about a 10 year absence lol.

As for the great single scene in Wolf...it's incredible to me that Jack Nicholason is in A Few Good Men for like 4 total scenes. Granted they are longer scenes, but talk about just nailing a part as a supporting actor!!

A Time to Kill was a really good McConaughey film. Forgot about that one. Really enjoyed Frailty as well, but, as a flashback movie, his time on screen was limited so I wouldn't technically include it. It was a great thriller, though, IMO. Bill Paxton was excellent as a serene and cool-headed serial killer.

A time to kill is awesome.

Rewatched Old School last night - 9/10, you're my boy Blue!

Fell asleep the other night and missed the end of the Oscars. Just watched McConaughey's speech. Dude is a fucking boss. Have always been a fan of him.

side note: just read his character will not last past season 1 of True Detective. Pretty bummed. Who knows what he has in store, but I have trouble seeing it as a good thing for the show.

DVR'ing Hangover 3 tonight, critics were brutal with it...I am morbidly curious.

It will be an entirely new story and cast each season. I think it's actually a good idea. They can get very talented, in demand actors because they only need to commit to one short season of the show.

Also, A Time to Kill is one of my all time favorite movies, and McConaughey is fantastic in it.

Now You See Me. 7/10 I was entertained.

    This is the End. 8/10
  • O-Trap
I loved Now You See Me. From the cast to the plot to the twists associated with magicians with practical applications.

I just watched the Dallas Buyers' Club. I wasn't as impressed as everyone else seems to be. McConaughey was fantastic, but the plot was slow for a good portion of the movie. Still a good story, though. 7/10

Frailty did kick ass. Loved that film.
