Single Guys

I have good friend, who is pretty hot and has a good job, that will date just about anyone, because she thinks if she isn't married with kids by the time she is 30, that somehow she is running behind in life. It's absurd to me, but some people truly believe that.
Takes a lot of energy to raise young kids in your mid to late 30's. Early 50's when they graduate.....then you can retire when they get out of college. Grandparents in early-mid 60's.

    Not bad.

    Married. Kid due in March.

Don't look forward to being single, ever again. I don't miss the single life.

I'm having a kid a little earlier than what I wanted. Didn't get married until 26 -- my brother married at 20-21, and that made me want to wait even more. I wanted to wait at least another year before we started having kids, but it happens. Once we start, we won't be stopping now until we decide we've had enough kids (2-4). Definitely happy with where we are in life.

I don't think I'll have a choice, I've been dating my girlfriend for almost three years now. She's pretty cool though and loves baseball and hockey so I don't mind, plus she is way hotter than I should have lol

Not single. Will probably be married by 2015 summer. Plan on proposing in the next few months.

I want no part of raising a young kid, but I want nothing more than to have my kid grow up and take part in conversations with me etc.

Essentially, can I just skip ahead to when they turn 18???

It's like you're the Red Sox, and she's the Tigers then?

Young kids are great. A lot of time and effort, but it is these days that will be missed the most. I have an 8/4 year old daughter. 8 year old is already reaching the age of attitudes, but she's still very sweet. 4 year old reminds me daily of why I will miss them being young.

Not a guy, but I will chime in. I am 28 and am currently in a relationship. Kind of. I have been in several serious relationships, but the longest I have ever dated anyone was 2-2.5 years (which has happened four times). I am not super confident that I can make it past that mark, or that marriage is for me. I hope that that's not true, but I just really don't know.

I am not in any hurry to be married or have children, but I also know that I want at least three kids. If I end up waiting until I am 35ish to have the first one, a big family probably won't happen, and that will be a huge bummer for me.

Why wait to get married to have kids? That seems to be the (disappointing) trend these days...

I took more as a synonym for a family. Prob doesn't want to raise a kid solo. I would prefer not to as well.

Was married once, that didn't work.

Not really in any hurry to have any sort of commitment now. If something comes along and everything feels "right" about it, that'd be cool, but I don't feel any overwhelming urge to jump into anything. I'm just sort of happy to have a drama-free life where no one's dragging me down, which is pretty much the opposite of the end of that marriage.

I read it the same way, just making the statement. It's disturbing how many mid-20's girls in my area are having kids, mostly b/c their good friends have kids, and they want them to play together.

If I were to ever be single again, I don't foresee myself jumping right into marriage. It's a lot of work!! lol

If my wife and I ever got a divorce I doubt I'd ever get married again. In the end it's just a piece of paper that entitles your spouse to half of your shit if things don't work out.

I am not against having kids on my own if it comes down to that, but I would do everything I could to make sure I could afford and support them on my own. Obviously things happen (layoffs, etc.), but I would be certain that I was as stable as possible before going down that road.

That said, I would much prefer raising children with a significant other or husband.

Yeah, about the only way I'd get married again would be if I'd been with someone for a good amount of time, everything seemed great and one of us looked at "making it official" as some important step that should be taken for whatever reason.

But after having to pay to get out of one marriage, there's no way I'd have any desire to do that sort of thing again without putting a lot of thought into things.

Being a guy who runs around a board complaining about mods ain't gonna get you anything besides an unattended funeral after the end.

Been married once, very doubtful it happens again. Have been with my girlfriend for 10+ years and we're both comfortable without being married. I've never had any intention of having kids either. As was the mentioned, our dog & cats are more than enough work but she has three kids, all over the age of 18.

Yeah, back in my hometown people are reproducing at a high rate. I get questioned about marriage/kids every single holiday...it's like clockwork. "zomg... late 20s, no girl, no kids?" Here, no one gives a shit. Turning 30 isn't the end of the world.

So you just haven't told them you're gay then....
