said_aouitaReminds me of Barry Sanders. Amazing cutting ability for a big guy.

Classyposter58It's almost like the NFHS should make that illegal. In this 6th grade league I ref the ball carrier has to be under 150

The rule in my league, 5th-6th grade, was 115 I think. In 2000. Over 115 lbs you had to play on the line on offense and defense. Not a new trend. But yeah, stupid as all fuck.wildcats20;1536697 wrote:That is literally the dumbest fucking thing I have ever read. -

Ha it's not pussifying, but this is the equivalent of putting a really fat guy in a hockey net and letting nothing get through. That's not even football, it's like using the bowling ball power up in Backyard Footballwildcats20;1536697 wrote:That is literally the dumbest fucking thing I have ever read. -
I Wear PantsIt's not about "pussifying", it's an attempt to make them actually learn to play football rather than "who has the kid that hit his growth spurt earliest". Youth football is all about development which that rule helps.

If putting a really fat guy in the net to block the puck worked, then hockey teams in the NHL would be doing that. You literally post stupid shit with every post you make.Classyposter58;1536759 wrote:Ha it's not pussifying, but this is the equivalent of putting a really fat guy in a hockey net and letting nothing get through. like_thatGeezus classlessposter, are you really that fucking dumb?

True, and it's a way to protect the young ones, since not all kids hit puberty or grow at the same rate. JH/HS football is another level, what classlessposter said is fucking stupid. It is completely fair what they do. Learn to hit the big guy low. You ever see a lineman pick up a fumble and try to run with it? He hits the ground very quickly.I Wear Pants;1536764 wrote:It's not about "pussifying", it's an attempt to make them actually learn to play football rather than "who has the kid that hit his growth spurt earliest". Next thing we know classless poster is going to QQ because a basketball team has some kid who is 7'10. -

pmoney25My son played Mini Football (1st and 2nd grade). He was a 1st grader. They had a weight limit for ball carriers of 75 lbs. They would actually weigh some kids before games. Believe it or not there were some kids in 2nd grade who were tipping the scales around 120-125.

Two hour practices 3-4 times a week for 3rd-6th graders is too much around here, but those damn Super Dads who are 5'10 and started 1 year of varsity football on a 4-6 team are going to have an NFL player. A huge peeve of mine.ccrunner609;1537059 wrote:there is absolutely no reason for a 1st grader to be playing football. -
Pick6lol. I started playing football the summer going into second grade. Dont see the harm in it. I think we only had two or three practices a week, though.

Bullshit. My son loved flag football in the first grade.ccrunner609;1537059 wrote:there is absolutely no reason for a 1st grader to be playing football. -

Other than the fact he enjoyed and learned quite a bit and made some friends. He is about to start basketball in a couple weeks. He enjoys sports.ccrunner609;1537059 wrote:there is absolutely no reason for a 1st grader to be playing football.
Not sure why it is a big deal. -

Football is pretty big where we are and I haven't come across very many of these guys.Ironman92;1537067 wrote:Two hour practices 3-4 times a week for 3rd-6th graders is too much around here, but those damn Super Dads who are 5'10 and started 1 year of varsity football on a 4-6 team are going to have an NFL player. Good...maybe it's a local thing. We are just loaded with these dumbass dads. And the guys they have coaching aren't too great either.pmoney25;1537096 wrote:Football is pretty big where we are and I haven't come across very many of these guys.
I just hate seeing kids pushed to be the phenom at age 6. I have witnessed so many with my daughter's age kids and now my son's.....plus I see it ridiculously in my profession. -

Making a size rule in High School would be pussifying.I Wear Pants;1536764 wrote:It's not about "pussifying", it's an attempt to make them actually learn to play football rather than "who has the kid that hit his growth spurt earliest". If you threw "tackle" in there, I would actually agree with you.ccrunner609;1537059 wrote:there is absolutely no reason for a 1st grader to be playing football. -

Agree. Flag is fine. But honestly tackle isn't necessary until 5th grade, IMO.
Also, we have the "Madded dads", as I like to call them, in my area. -
sherm03I played tackle football the summer between kindergarten and 1st grade. I absolutely loved it. It's not like kids hit hard enough to get seriously hurt at that age. And if the kid wants to do it and isn't forced to by his parents, then who gives a fuck?
And I totally agree with the above. I think it's OK putting a weight limit on ball carriers in 5th and 6th grade. We had that. Our best player actually got challenged before a game when I was in 5th grade and he was 2lbs. over. He got the X on his helmet for the rest of the season. We still went 8-0...but it sucked for him. But to put a weight limit on the ball carrier in high school would be a complete ***** move. -
Pick6i fail to see the problem with playing youth tackle football if there is a weight limit for ball carriers.
