Would you drug test your kid

  • gerb131
I don't think I would and definitely not for pot
  • I Wear Pants
    No.

If it was for reasons that would stay in the family, sure.

For something school related or otherwise, I would not.

I would hope I would have enough of a pulse on their life that I wouldn't need to actually drug test them. I've got 15+ years before I'll even need to think about something like this, though.

You have more faith in a parent's ability than I.

heh, was threatened a couple of times in hs.....over weed

Nah, if I had a kid and there were serious issues outside of just suspected experimentation, possibly.

Don't see how you can say no. I'd say every parent probably has no intention to, but you never know what situation could come up.

    Can't rule it out.

Probably not, but I might lie about it just to scare them. Luckily I won't have to worry about this for a long time.

    Nope....no need

Not without reason to suspect abuse and/or risky behavior as result of use. Never had to, but would have done so if needed as long I was legally responsible for them.

I was less concerned with them taking an occasional toke or drink (which I don't doubt they did) than I was with their using in excess, letting their use begin to interfere with their life, or doing stupid things like driving stoned/drunk. You know - the same things that happen with a drunk/doper/junkie of any age.

Hard drugs would have been a different story - unlike pot or booze, they're a high-risk threat in themselves, and I'd have you down at LabCorp in fifteen minutes flat if found a syringe in your room. Even up here in Yuppie Zone, we lose two or three kids a year district to heroin overdoses.

Just stick to killing your children's pets.

If I 'knew' they were doing it an lying about it....yes.

If I felt the need, absolutely. Hopefully there will never be the need.
  • Heretic
Yes. And if they tested negative, they'd be disowned.

With the amount of heroine molly and cocaine going thru high schools right now I would for sure. It's not like when we went to school and the drug users just smoked pot kids are doing hard drugs today much earlier.

    I probably wouldn't because I don't want kids.

    Hope this helps.

This also reminds me of an argument my brother is having with his ex wife. She wants their 14 year old daughter on birth control. The daughter says she doesn't need it and doesn't want it. The mom wants her on it incase anything would happen while my brother is arguing that it would promote her not worrying about the consequences of having sex. My brother argues that he will let her be on birth control when his daughter asks for it but not just because
