Nirvana's 'In Utero' Turns 20

Smashing Pumpkins are great. Billy Corgan is a music legend as far as I am concerned. Saw the group live in Indiana several years ago. "Tonight, Tonight" is probably the best live performance I've ever seen.

Completing the list: the Paul Butterfield Blues Band, Deep Purple, Peter Gabriel, LL Cool J, Cat Stevens, Link Wray, Yes and the Zombies.

I saw them at Rock on the Range in May. I thought they were good, but it just didn't fit well with the rest of the weekend. I am definitely glad I saw them, but I think it would have been better at a different show. Billy Corgan was pretty weird...he barely said anything at all the whole set.

Cobain in later interviews had no issues with Pearl Jam and seemed to take back what he said earlier.

Black by Pearl Jam is in my opinion the best "grunge" song ever. It frequently holds my personal favorite song of all time title.

I personally don't care for Eddie Vedder but as a band, Pearl Jam is in my top 5.

They play NIN a lot on Sirius Lithium 36.

It's channel 34, and they focus on 90's rock in general. They play DMB sometimes too and they certainly aren't grunge

Unfortunately I saw them at Lollapalooza in '94. They headlined that year. It was supposed to be Nirvana headlining, but Cobain put the business end of his shotgun in his mouth a couple months before the concert. Smashing Pumpkins was meh...still are.

NIN is damn good no doubt about it.....almost it's own thread.

    Industrial Metal-
    NIN
    Ministry
    Tool
    Marilyn Manson
    White Zombie
    Die Krupps
    Fear Factory
    Danzig
    Type O Negative

    GOAT cover ever*

*ok I lied. Johnny Cash singing a NIN song (Industrial Metal) is GOAT cover.

Yeah, he definitely gave off that same vibe at the show I attended. I think he's just more of an introverted person and not as comfortable running about the stage while jumping and dancing around (i.e. the complete opposite of a Chris Martin, whom I've also seen live and is great, by the way). The uniqueness of his voice, however, really resonates well with me and that's why I like him. The group was probably at its peak in the mid-90s, however, during the Melon Collie and the Infinite Sadness era. I just really like the grandiose production and overall atmosphere of many of the group's songs. Not many bands like them.

To each his own. Pretty bad luck there, though, with Kurt committing suicide before your show started. If there was ever a legitimate refund complaint, you think that'd be it.

I don't know if my state of mind at Lollapalooza in '94 really counts as "seeing" or "attending" the Smashing Pumpkins.

I remember seeing her, but I think when I saw her, she was there in '95 performing with Hole. I don't think she was there in '94.

That may be it. Didn't think she performed in '94 but thought she was there in remembrance of Kurt and Nirvana. Kinda remember Hole being there a year later.

Did you also attend the Ozzfest back then?

    No. Just Palooza.
