Shooting at DC Navy Yard: At least 12 Dead
-
ptown_trojans_1Breaking news, 12 people shot by what Police say are 3 shooters at the Navy Yard, the Naval Sea Systems Command Headquarters building, where about 3,000 people work in DC.
Some reports say 4 dead, nothing confirmed yet.
This is a mess. Tons of police, SWAT, and Military everywhere.

reclegend22CNN reporting that shooter still inside building, but has barricaded himself in some part of the building.
-
ptown_trojans_1Yeah, the numbers are all over the place, more than usual.
Reports say 1, 2, and 3 shooters
Some reports say 4 dead, some say 1, some say none.
I'm watching the local DC news, and even between their reports, they have wide ranges.
Ed Buclatin, the public affairs chief for the Navy Installations Command, tweeted “four killed and eight injured.”

WebFireFuck the news.

reclegend22I was just wondering yesterday when the next mass shooting would happen after seeing a documentary on Virginia Tech, and here we are. It's unfortunately inevitable in today's society. At any given point, something like this is bound to occur at random. That it can happen at a presumably tightly-secure military complex is pretty unnerving.
-
ptown_trojans_1Police saying this is still "an active shooter situation."
-
reclegend22Agree with WebFire regarding the media. CNN reporters are running around like they're covering a football game. "Police are running through the street in full combat gear! ... Snipers are perched in nearby buildings like a scene right out of Zero Dark Thirty! ... It's crazy! Just crazy! Riot gear! Swat! This could be the end of the world. Back to you, Donna." Utter idiots. Just report the facts and stop sensationalizing every detail.
-
ptown_trojans_1Yeah, the DC local reporters aren't like that, more just reporting facts, what's going on, but not yelling.
-

That's exactly how it should be. I'm surprised CNN doesn't bring in John Madden for color analysis.ptown_trojans_1;1501159 wrote:Yeah, the DC local reporters aren't like that, more just reporting facts, what's going on, but not yelling. -

Not sure if they realize it but many of those places have snipers on buildings normally.reclegend22;1501155 wrote:Agree with WebFire regarding the media. ptown_trojans_1Police reporting shooter dead.
Not sure if that is just the one shooter, or if there are others still out there, or in custody. -
Raw Dawgin' it5 miles from my work - been hearing cop flying around all morning.
-
reclegend22It has now been "confirmed" that two shooters are "down."
-
ptown_trojans_1This is a mess.
DC Police said one gunman dead, 2 still potentially at large.
One white guy, one black, both in military style clothes.
Casualties go from 4-11.
Seems like the DC Police and feds are still working the details.
Kind of goes against earlier reports that 2 guys were dead. -
ptown_trojans_1Mayor Vincent C. Gray and D.C. police chief Cathy Lanier said in a news conference moments ago that there are at least 12 dead following the shooting at the Navy Yard this morning.
-
ptown_trojans_1D.C. police chief Cathy Lanier said in a news conference that authorities are still looking for two potential suspects. She said one was a white male wearing a tan uniform that appears to be a military uniform along with a beret-style hat, while the other suspect is a black male between the ages of 40 and 50 wearing an olive military-style outfit.
-
tk421if only DC had some sort of "assault" weapons ban and an ammunition limit. Also, it would be nice if the Navy Yard was a gun free zone. Oh, wait a minute.
-
wildcats20Male in tan uniform had been identified and not a suspect or person of interest.
Suspect has been identified Aaron Alexis from Ft. Worth, Texas. -
tk421Black 34 year old former member of the Navy. Sounds like he had a bone to pick with the Navy for some reason.

We can't trust military members to carry weapons when not actively killing someone, that's just crazy talk right there. -
brutus161My best friend works in the building where he was shooting. He had forgot his work cell, and had to turn go back home to get it. He drove off the base about ten minutes before the shooting. His kids are still in the daycare, and they can't get back on base to get them.

Football season has started. Most likely the shooters were either Redskins or Browns fans.reclegend22;1501142 wrote:I was just wondering yesterday when the next mass shooting would happen after seeing a documentary on Virginia Tech, and here we are. -
Laley23Lets not turn a thread about a shooting into a shitfest...
