Flying for first time tomorrow... Any advice??

I hate flying but I had to overcome my fear to move out to AZ. I knew that my life would be considerably limited if I refused to fly.

To OP: if you don't have bubble wrap for your golf clubs, wrap a towel or something about them to cushion them.

It's a real nuisance to have to pick-up toiletries on the road (and if the hotel has these in a concierge service they will gouge you horribly). Lots of places used to offer travel size toothpaste, but I haven't seen that in a while (margin margin margin!).

The hotel will have complementary soap and shampoo for you. A lot of times the toilet paper is not particularly bowel friendly, but I don't know if you can pack a roll or two in your bag or not.
Wal-Mart sells travel ready bags with deodorant, mouthwash, and toothpaste in the flying sizes.

    Azerbaijan?

Kidding. It's an easy but boring 1 day drive from Ohio to Arizona. I guess it also depends if you are moving a bunch of stuff or not.

Good to know. I've looked in a few stores before and travel-sized toothpaste can be surprisingly hard to find. Fortunately, I accumulated a nice stash from when hotels used to provide it complementary.

Agreed, seems like half of the time the travel is more enjoyable than the vacation, especially if you have hot Asian stewardesses bringing martinis:

But even in US domestic flights, just sit back and relax. And enjoy going to different places in the fastest way possible.

If asked if you have any firearms, the correct response is "what do you need?". It's kind of an airport employees' inside joke.

Depends on what you're carrying with you. I've seen people empty out ipods, phones, wallets, watches, keys, change, rings, etc., from their varies pockets. Over the years I've just widdled all that down to what's essential and kept my cash on me (unless they have that giant body scanner thingy). I wear my slip on loafers when I fly so I don't have to worry about retying my shoes as well. It's a system that works for me.

Does the liquid thing count for checked baggage?

    No, only carry on.

I would also make sure you have at least one full set of clothes in your carryon. They probably won't lose your luggage, but if they do you'll want to have something to wear. I also once spilled a full cup of tomato juice all over myself at the very beginning of the flight. That sucked but I was able to change in the tiny little bathroom because I had spare clothes. (because they lost my suit case the previous flight) The gum suggestion is also a good one. Don't wait until your head/sinuses hurt before you start chewing.

Way to drop that in there.

It's been a long time since I've seen a hot stewardess. It's like there's been a 3-decades hiring freeze and the hot ones from the 80's are still doing the job now in their 50's.

For the shot deal just visit your standard airport bar not any of the chain places. I haven't flown in like the last 6 months but the few years before this almost every airport had a bar with these same deals.

It was moreso this line of thinking: if I don't take this opportunity that will force me to fly a few times a year I'll never truly get over my fear of flying.

It actually kinda worked. I'm not scared anymore except during major turbulence.

I cant recall the last time I had a woman flight attendant, seems like they are all of the effeminate male persuasion lately. Usually have names like Ryan, Kyle or just go by the initials LJ.
