Still into it. I slightly loosened up my macro counting but have tightened it back up again with the summer rolling around.Automatik;1848750 wrote:Oh yeah back from the dead!
It's that time of year, everyone trying to get back on the health kick (or just telling everyone they are).
Anyone still into this shit here or just fucking off and getting fat?
I have a few friends, know-it-alls of course, who've been doubting my methods (IF + calorie counting), so I recently started tracking again for the hell of it. Basically just to shut them up real quick an debunk their GQ article nonsense. -
supermanDiet has been garbage but workouts have been stellar.

AutomatikDo you track? I just started back with MyFitness Pal. My goals seems to be all out of wack. 1500 daily calories. Seems low. Also, looking back at past records....holy shit no wonder I hate salads now.

This fall it will be something like 37 years of lifting and I probably haven't taken a total of 2-3 months off in that time combined. -

Unless you weigh about 105, that many calories is VERY low.Automatik;1848760 wrote:Do you track? I just started back with MyFitness Pal. My goals seems to be all out of wack. 1500 daily calories. Seems low. Also, looking back at past records....holy shit no wonder I hate salads now. -

AutomatikYeah, that has to be wrong. I recall my range was usually 2000-2400.

I'm sure MFP has some type of calculator but if you weigh (for instance) 185 lbs, all you have to do is Google "how many calories to maintain/lose/gain (insert what your goal is) bodyweight" and there are a ton of things out there. This may sound like Captain Obvious but it's pretty simple and I'd say, depending on your weight, your 2000-2400 is much closer than 1500.Automatik;1848766 wrote:Yeah, that has to be wrong. Rippedbody has a good excel sheet that calculates your macros for you.Automatik;1848766 wrote:Yeah, that has to be wrong. I recall my range was usually 2000-2400. -

Mike's Macros is my preferred app for tracking.like_that;1848775 wrote:Rippedbody has a good excel sheet that calculates your macros for you. -
AutomatikBetter than MFP?
MFP seems very bloated now. Tons of features I don't care about. I just like being able to store meals, custom food, and adding stuff by scanning barcodes. -

Food database is smaller, but I like it better overall.Automatik;1848778 wrote:Better than MFP?

I was just referring to a page that helps calculate your macros, especially if you want to carb cycle.Fab4Runner;1848777 wrote:Mike's Macros is my preferred app for tracking.
I use My Macros+ to track macros, but a lot of similar apps do the same shit. -

Yes, which is why I said tracking, not calculating. Though the app does that as well. I picked your post to reply to because it was discussing macros in general.like_that;1848780 wrote:I was just referring to a page that helps calculate your macros, especially if you want to carb cycle.

SonofanumpNope, not going to do it, refuse to track.

HereticI'm in that "been working out, but also eating like crazy" mode like a few of you. Been working on cutting out a lot of extra food (not going out anywhere near as much as I did in March and keeping away from pizza a lot more than I have been) and trying to be a bit more intense in the workouts, so I can ditch the extra 15 I've put on this year.

Commander of AwesomeDidn't get to bed til 10:30 last night (SMH usually a 9:30 guy), almost didn't get up at 5:15 this AM due to being tired. Today was arms and shoulders, added a new cable arm excise, really feeling it. Glad I went.
I'm sort of on Son's plan. I don't want to track so I don't. However I try and do the intuitive eating, IE eating when hungry, making healthy choices, cutting out a lot of carbs and sugar and seems to be mostly working. I started working out pretty hard in Oct last yr and have put on about 11 lbs since then but haven't noticed a ton of blub, so I'm assuming it is working. -
GOONx19I've been hitting a ton of legs. Probably the strongest I've ever been. I've got a goal of being able to dunk when my kids eventually get to that age, and it has gotten easier each year as my focus on legs has increased.

Laley23Haven't posted on here in years I don't think.
Went from 215 down to 190 (I'm 6'1, maybe a bit more) with a focus on cardio and lighter lifting. I eat pretty healthy for the most part and enjoy my diet, so I didn't alter that at all. Just wanted to get in shape. It took about 12-15 months.
I've since cut back slightly on cardio and upped the weight lifting and amount lifted. Built myself back to 196 (goal of 200), but those 6 pounds are, generally speaking, muscle. This has been since around Thanksgiving, so about 4-5 months.
Its truly amazing what looking at wedding pictures did for me hahahahaha. -

That's awesome. Progress pics are great motivation.Laley23;1849276 wrote:Haven't posted on here in years I don't think.

ernest_t_bassI quit drinking two years ago and went nutso on HIIT. Dropped about 60 lbs altogether. 220 (heaviest) down to 160 (lightest). In about 6-8 months. Maintained 106-165ish for another year or so (Dec-Dec). Currently hovering 170, and the weight I've gained is not muscle... would love to hit weights again, but my motivation and initiative is small...

Yep. Funny how "fat free and low sodium" was all the rage and now these studies are showing not so much.
