So did you go to a studio or just crank the heat and try it at home?like_that;1773080 wrote:I tried Bikram Yoga for the first time a few days ago and I sweat my ass off. It was pretty humbling to see how inflexible I am, but I felt great after the session. I think I might incorporate Bikram once a week now if I can. -

I can not chart / track for anything, I've tried myfitnespal several times and just don't mark my meals. I've gone to the 85/15 idea, which is basically you get 3 bad "eats/snack" a week, I usually use up one of those with an imperial stout.like_that;1773079 wrote:Good read, especially for me since I am a little OCD lol. To me this article is another classic example of how there is not a "one size fits all" diet out there. Choose a diet that works for you and run with it. -

I was pretty strict paleo for awhile but it's just not sustainable training heavy. I had to add rice, potatoes, etc so I didn't go flat for post-workout meals. I just avoid the grain type stuff that messes with my stomach.like_that;1773079 wrote:Good read, especially for me since I am a little OCD lol. And yoga is legit. I just don't have the patience for it. That yoga workout rom P90X was like watching paint dry. I had to get his abbreviated version. -
AutomatikI'm taking 2 weeks off. Fuck the gym right now. After work is going to be unbearable.
I'll do random shit at home for the time being. -

Because of the new year resolution posers?Automatik;1773149 wrote:I'm taking 2 weeks off. Fuck the gym right now. After work is going to be unbearable.

AutomatikThe places I go are rather crowded during normal times, right now will be unbearable. Gotta commit to going on both weekend days from now on.

This is definitely a time of the year I'm grateful for having a cardio machine and other workout stuff at my apartment so I can avoid the gym if I need to.Automatik;1773158 wrote:The places I go are rather crowded during normal times, right now will be unbearable. The P90X3 30 minute is very enjoyable and just the correct amount of time for me.BR1986FB;1773145 wrote:And yoga is legit. I just don't have the patience for it. That yoga workout rom P90X was like watching paint dry. I had to get his abbreviated version. -

Overheard coworkers QQing about that this morning. I used to volunteer at a JCC so I could get free gym membership, this time of the yr was always the busiest.Automatik;1773149 wrote:I'm taking 2 weeks off. Fuck the gym right now. After work is going to be unbearable.

P90X yoga was boring as fuck, and part of why I stopped doing it lol. Bikram Yoga the time seemed to fly by, probably because it was at an actual studio and I was sweating my ass off. It was a 90 minute session, but they also offer 60 mins which would be fine with me.BR1986FB;1773145 wrote: And yoga is legit. I just don't have the patience for it. Luckily I work on an AF base. The gym is free, and I normally work out in the afternoon so there is nobody getting in the way.lhslep134;1773159 wrote:This is definitely a time of the year I'm grateful for having a cardio machine and other workout stuff at my apartment so I can avoid the gym if I need to. -
BR1986FBWhen I trained at a gym, the New Year's resolution people didn't bother me as much as the "bro's" who would curl in the squat rack, take up benches/machines too long (cough, cough, Ernest Byner) because they were chatting up the babes and the pigs who would sweat on the benches and not wipe them off. My take is kudos to anyone trying to improve their health. I know most give up by the end of January though.

rrfanSpend the money to put a weight room in your house. Best money you can spend. My gym is never crowded and it is always open....

rrfanWho has stepped it up in the new year? I am 7 weeks into Body Beast and have gained about 11 lbs. Feeling very strong and shirts that have fit me for years no longer fit in the chest and arms. Anybody else....

Intensity pretty much stays the same for me, year round.rrfan;1778419 wrote:Who has stepped it up in the new year? I am 7 weeks into Body Beast and have gained about 11 lbs. Feeling very strong and shirts that have fit me for years no longer fit in the chest and arms. Anybody else.... -

Good for you. I have been that way for years too...However, last year I had some peaks and valleys and I did not like it. I started making excuses and they were all garbage. I am 6 days a week at 5:15 am in my own gym. That way I have no excuses. Feels good.BR1986FB;1778420 wrote:Intensity pretty much stays the same for me, year round. -
AutomatikI ramped up my conditioning workouts and focused less on weights. Recovery was a bitch at first, but going well now.
Lots of sprints and stairmaster sessions (what a miserablemachine!). -
SonofanumpI have not missed a workout since January 3rd after taking a few days off over the holidays.
Off to swim, then sprints here shortly. -
rrfanSeems like the OC is going strong and in good health...at least the ones on this site.
Anybody use a nutria ninja or bullet...? I have mixed this into my diet to get more vegies in my daily diet...been doing Kale, carrot, oats, banana and apple after work outs. -

Doesn't mean my intensity is balls to the wall, 24/7/365. Intensity just stays the same for me depending on what I'm doing that day. On heavy days, more intense. On light days, less intense....more about "feel." On off days, no intense. I've been pretty consistent with my workouts, maybe taking a month or two off (total) in the last 34 years.rrfan;1778421 wrote:Good for you. Old school Magic Bullet here. Have one at my office. Great for shakes.rrfan;1778430 wrote: Anybody use a nutria ninja or bullet...? I have mixed this into my diet to get more vegies in my daily diet...been doing Kale, carrot, oats, banana and apple after work outs. -

What do you put in it ? Just want to hear what others are doing and see if it makes sense to switch up things for me.BR1986FB;1778432 wrote:Old school Magic Bullet here. Have one at my office. Great for shakes. -
AutomatikUsually a variation of this depending on what I have or what I'm in the mood for.
Green base - kale, swiss chard, or spinach. 80% time it's kale
Blueberries, raspberries, blackberries - depending on what I have
Carrot
Quickoats
Apple
Almonds
Chia seeds
water, occasionally almond milk
I can't eat bananas, which sucks because they mask the bitterness of the kale.
