What about the girl who came running out screaming as they arrived? Why didn't they question her before going in?

Nobody is saying it is "right" to shoot anyone in the head. I think most just want more info before forming an opinion.

The article posted makes no mention of a girl running out screaming. Was that posted later?

Because the cop wasn't TRYING to shoot the girl, you dolt.

the article i read said the crook sent one girl to the door and told her to say everything was ok. she answered the door and yelled hes got a gun and ran...or something like that

Nah, he just shot 8 shots at a guy who was holding a hostage closely. I mean it's not like the drunk tries to run over the little kid on a bicycle right?

Other articles. More recent ones. The other twin.
The two cops arrived at the house just as Jessica was escaping through the front door, screaming that Smith had a gun. Budimlic saw movement in the house and stepped inside

No, he shot 8 shots at a guy who was pointing a gun at him.

    Terrible analogy.

    Terrible analogy.
Is it? Both were reckless before they killed someone innocent.

Thanks. Gives a better account of what happened. I honestly have no problem with the way it went down. However, it did end tragically. Could the cop have "interviewed" the girl running out? Perhaps. But it sounds like it was pretty bang-bang and would definitely need more info on that.

By your analogy, someone who is jaywalking is just as reckless as a burglar/robbery suspect.

I agree! It's totally cool and awesome that an innocent female got blown away by a cop! No problems whatsoever!

You said you had no problems with how it went down. How it went down was an innocent person was shot and killed by the cop.

What's next? Pull a FWK and say the girl was 5% at fault for being home when the dude broke in?

I don't think this is quite the same. I *think* WebFire is saying that in hind site it didn't work out (obviously) but with what the cop knew at the time and the way things progressed he is ok with how the cop responded. I didn't read any blame for the poor girl from his comments.

Bad article then. If you listen to the dispatch tapes, the cop saw the guy driving around the parking lot, loses sight of the guy right before he goes inside. The cops didnt approach the guy until he came out and had already killed.

    from LJ's article

Budimlic saw movement in the house and stepped inside. Almost instantly, he was separated from his partner when the front door slammed shut and locked the other cop out.
How the fuck does that happen?

We had an apartment building that had all weighted doors and re-locking locks. They used to be really common in rentals.

Then post an article that backs up what you are saying rather than stating the exact opposite?

That would make sense, but they also said the boyfriend had gone out to move his car so the apt door wasn't locked. That's how he got in.

The girl also came running out. With all the commotion it could have gotten locked.

The article i read said that right about the time the cop showed up, a male, the victim and the suspect where walking down the stairs. somehow the male fell down the stairs and rolled into the door which closed the front door to the house. that is when the suspect saw the cop and grabbed the girl.
