Which Upcoming Movie Are You Most Excited About?

It's horrible. Saw it in the theater with Matooth and we laughed quite a bit. General consensus was that it was one of the worst movies either of us had seen in a really long time.reclegend22;1425900 wrote:Cool. From the previews it looks like the acting might not be as natural as it was in the other Bay movies -- you have Jessica Biel and Alba to blame for that; those were two pretty big names for the TCM franchise -- but hopefully the cinematography and overall mood of the film is consisent.
We'll see. -

All of these posts are really getting me excited for the release date. Thanks.Fab4Runner;1425940 wrote:It's horrible. Saw it in the theater with Matooth and we laughed quite a bit. General consensus was that it was one of the worst movies either of us had seen in a really long time.
I'll at least give it a try since I really enjoy that genre and the other two movies in the series are among my favorites. As long as it's nothing like M. Night Shyamalan's The Happening -- I thought we had accidentally walked into Pineapple Express -- then I can keep an open mind. That movie was by far the worst "thriller/horror" movie I've ever seen. I haven't been able to take Mark Wahlberg serious ever again. -

Definitely agree on The Happening. Terrible movie.reclegend22;1425942 wrote:All of these posts are really getting me excited for the release date. Thanks.

ernest_t_bassWhat is Peter Jackson thinking? Releasing on the same day as: Tyler Perry's A Madea Christmas
-
reclegend22Tyler Perry is worse than M. Night Shyamalan. And that is saying something. Does his fucking name really have to be in front of every single thing he does? I'd actually be more inclined to go see one of his movies if his name wasn't attached to it. Since it is, I will never see it. I'd rather stick a fork in my leg and clean up the blood. All I think about when I hear "Tyler Perry's...." is stupid shit such as Norbit and Nutty Professor II: The Klumps. Hope he dies.
Damn it. I just added another person to my hate list. -

Black people fucking love that shit and have made him a multi-millionaire. Go to an inner-city school after a Tyler Perry show or movie is released, its all they fucking talk about. -
Laley23In fact, just to piss you off a bit more Rec,
Tyler Perry net worth: Tyler Perry is an American actor, director and producer of over 15 films and three TV shows who has a net worth of $400 million. Tyler Perry is the only filmmaker to have five films open #1 at the box office in the last five years beating out the likes of Steven Spielberg, Martin Scorcese, James Cameron and Quentin Tarantino. His 8 films have grossed more than $418 million dollars, each film cost less than $10 million to make.
Tyler Perry earns over $100 million per year.

Classyposter58Shyamalan did make 3 awesome movies though, The Sixth Sense, Unbreakable and Signs actually really rocked. I am most interested to see Man of Steel, a Zack Snyder and Christopher Nolan combo could be absolutely amazing. Look at what he did with Batman, and Superman is way cooler. Also I really liked Star Trek so the second one may be really good. The Great Gatsby has a chance to be good as at has a perfect star for the lead role in DiCaprio
-
Laley23Sixth Sense was good.
Unbreakable was ok and Signs was terrible. It had so much potential too.
Seriously...through water on them? Swing hard? So stupid. -

Of course, there are more options...so if the one you anticipate the most is not on here...just list it below.
I left off "World War Z." That's definitely up there for me. -
gport_tennisSixth sense has one of the best endings of all time. Totally got me

I thought it tied in extremely well to the movie honestly. Plus War Of The Worlds ended similarly, with the aliens getting sick from our planetLaley23;1426196 wrote:Sixth Sense was good.

Agreed re Shyamalan. I actually love M. Night. Do not get me wrong. His early work -- The Sixth Sense, Unbreakable, Signs, The Village -- was great. The first three were some of the best thrillers of all-time. And even though many didn't, I loved The Village. I still watch it from time to time today.Classyposter58;1426188 wrote:Shyamalan did make 3 awesome movies though, The Sixth Sense, Unbreakable and Signs actually really rocked. I just hate that he basically ruined his career beginning with Lady in the Water and then The Happening. There was no coming back from that. It would be like Francis Ford Coppola going from The Godfather to Kindergarten cop. They were ridiculous films. -

Doesnt make it good. I thought it was stupid, as did most people.Classyposter58;1426230 wrote:I thought it tied in extremely well to the movie honestly. Plus War Of The Worlds ended similarly, with the aliens getting sick from our planet
While the comparison is similar that you made, War of the Worlds was off of the Orsen Welles radio broadcast. It wasnt an original idea. I also hated that ending. Those types of endings leave me saying, "did they not know how to kill them, so they came up with something corny and simple?"
Its the same thing as the person dreaming in a book or whatever. The writer doesnt think people will have open minds to the fact that the land in the movie or book is reality so they make it a dream. While Alice and Wonderland and Wizard of Oz were very good, would they not be greatly improved by simply making them fantasy? I say yes. I hate the dream cop-out... -
Laley23Also, Rec, fuck you. The Village is terrrrrrible. You might go onto my hate list just for that alone lol.
-
reclegend22Lol. The ending to The Village was pretty lame -- I'll admit -- but please do not tell me that you saw it coming. Everybody says they did ("I knew it right from the start!"). No, you didn't. And neither did I.
What I really love about The Village is the cinematography and the overall ambiance of the film. The darkness about it, the chilling score and the inventiveness of it all. The acting was superb. I mean, it's a really great cast. You're talking about four Academy Award nominated actors and two winners. Sigourney Weaver, Adrien Brody, William Hurt, Joaquin Phoenix (whom may just be a top five or six actor of our generation). It was an incredible all-star lineup. Where I was disappointed is that M. Night did not just go with the creatures in the woods idea. The build up to that story was actually terrifying and a real horror movie. He should have fully developed that idea. Instead, he wanted a love story, which I also get. -

The movie is ok before that. And like you said, had he gone with the whole beasts in the wild I might actually like the movie. The cheesy dumbass ending actually is what ruined it for me. M Night ruins a lot of great ideas he has cause he doesnt, imo, know how to get them down on paper and into a script. Sixth Sense is probably the best idea he didnt screw up ever.
Signs, Happening, Village, etc are all tremendous ideas...he just sucks at writing them in a script and always has to ruin it by "tricking" the audience. Why cant the idea be a good enough idea without a twist??? Here is a hint, M...it usually is!!!!!! -
reclegend22
I think you are right about most of that. M. Night Shyamalan is a super talented director, perhaps the most talented and successful in the business from around 1998 to 2003. There is no denying his legerdemain. By 2003, the man had become a full-blown legend.Laley23;1426444 wrote:I didnt see it coming, but that was because it was so stupid and terrible lol.

But he's a horrible writer, and should leave the scripts to more polished professionals in that field. As you say, he's screwed up a couple of potential classics that could have blown anything Hitchock did out of the water. But, because M. Night struggles to put his ideas into words, those ideas went largely unrealized.
Even The Happening and Devil had the potential to be really greatly told stories. But they weren't because the dialogue was insipid and the acting something out of a Disney TV show. -
sportchamppsThe Happening is the worst movie I have ever seen. At one point they we're racing the wind across a field I mean c'mon.
I am most excited for The Man of Steel, The Great Gatsby, and Hangover 3. I have already took that Friday off because my best friend and I have a tradition of seeing every fast and furious movie at the midnight release. He loves the movie and I love to hate the movies. Were actually gonna make it a really long night and go to the hangover directly after the midnight Fast and Furious. I'm pissed I will miss the opening weekend of Man of Steel because I'll be at Bonnaroo. -
bigdaddy2003I'm pumped for Sin City 2. I've been waiting for it for a long time. I'll go check out Great Gatsby because I'm a DiCaprio guy. I'm also interested in 2 Guns with Denzel and Mark Wahlberg.

believerNot much coming out of Hollyweird these days is worth a crap.
It's largely brain-dead nonsense chock full of violence & sex designed to titillate teenage hormones, leftist political propaganda, and crappy acting sugar-coated with high-tech fluff.
At $9 a ticket coupled with $10 popcorn, I refuse to line the pockets of the Hollyweird elite.
Glad I could help. -

Signs-Good
The Villiage-Average and predictable
Lady in the Water-Average and weird
The Happening-Worst movie I have ever seen -

I can honestly say I did. My wife was mad at me for a few hours because I ruined the movie for her by telling her that they were in modern times and the creatures were fake/costumes.reclegend22;1426422 wrote:Lol. I never even came close to getting the ending of Sixth Sense (Bruce Willis being dead).
