Sure shocked the hell out of me. If they have hard evidence they can produce it, until then I'm flabbergasted why people are treating them like they are some sort of Perry Mason.
They are more like Robin Hood than Perry Mason.

And authentication exists, a real legal concept!

Jesus, even Anonymous' wiki page sucks. Wow, awesome group.

LOL@Manhattan Buckeye poking and prodding Anon. Do you wish to have your ugly life exposed too?

20 mins until the train wreck begins.

Well in the last week this case has gotten more attention than in the months following it and it is only getting started. These guys can ruin the people involved whether or not it goes to court. It is pretty clear you have no idea who or what you are talking about.

Not everything works like a court room. These guys are spreading awareness of the corruption going on in steubenville (for fucks sake a sixteen yr old girl was possibly raped and it went untouched by police). Its not about anonymous taking them to court and having a trial, lawyer man. Jesus GTFO of here if all you're gonna do is look at this from a lawyers POV.

What the hell do you expect on a wiki page? Lol @ you discrediting a group because their "wiki page sucks". Have you not seen the nationwide exposure they have given to this rape case? IMO, that's success enough. They are basically forcing the law enforcement to do something about it because the entire nation is now watching.

Basically we all need to stop paying attention to this. Nothing to see here. Let the "authorities" do their jobs. The cops in Steubenville have been great through this whole process and will definitely figure out whether or not more people were involved with the rape... Right after they figure out who hacked the RollRedRoll website.

I think this is just all going over Manhattan's head somehow.

Yes, people know authentication exists. You seem purely focused on the criminal justice system. This is not about that entirely. Anonymous as a group sometimes recognizes the fact that the laws don't cover every situation perfectly and they have taken it upon themselves to bring down pressure on people using their skills when they see a social wrong.

In this instance they think the local law enforcement and the city itself are trying to just ignore the rape of a young girl because it involves the local heroes (high school football team). So, they are targeting the team, and the individuals they think are some how associated with this situation. They are trying to publicly shame those they believe to be responsible. They aren't trying to follow the legal route as you keep seeming to think everyone does. They are using social forces to shame people and hopefully get a few to do the right thing.

    Check yourself. Now.

I explained in many posts that if these guys committed a crime, they should be prosecuted. What I've also said is evidentiary rules should apply. That shouldn't be controversial. If it is, feel free to private message me.

    Check yourself again.

And we have explained what is going on to you in many post and yet you don't grasp the idea of what is going on.

If I got a nickel for every intelligent post you have made I would definitely not have any nickels at all.

Lol you're a weird muther fucker MB...I like you. But you're a weird one.

Should I check myself or chickity check myself before I wreck myself?

I am with SportsAndLady on this one (A first for me). Ideally a non corrupt authority would take this route, if it existed in this city. It is reported that the authorities are too busy cleaning gutters and worrying about websites to look into this rape.

Check yourself before you wreck yourself bro! Seriously, who says check yourself?

What everyone else is trying to say to you is that there is more to the world than the criminal justice system. And you seem completely unwilling to admit that there is more to life than that.

Yes, in an ideal world it would be enough to deal with corrupt situations. But the world isn't ideal. So Anonymous identifies situations that it believes the system has failed and work outside that system to bring a different sort of "justice."
  • Manhattan Buckeye
If you understand the concept of "authentication", you already got a nickel. I'm sure Dartmouth guy can explain it as well. If we took every single internet argument, video, audio, whatever at face value we'd have a lot of weird lawsuits going around. There has to be some sort of evidence to prove that it is authentic.

Again, not sure why I'm the bad guy here. How many times do I need to say that if these guys raped that girl they should be prosecuted? 100 times? 1,000 times? 10,000 times?
  • ytownfootball
Wow MB...are you really wound that tight?

Were the wheels of justice in my town turning the way they are in Stooby I would welcome the spotlight Anon is providing. I would check your naivete.

Because that is how most lawyers think. That the world couldnt exist without them.
  • Manhattan Buckeye
"Wow MB...are you really wound that tight?"

No, not at all. I just don't get why for some reason rules don't apply in this situation.
  • Fly4Fun
This honestly is just some big misunderstanding MB. I don't think anyone is saying the criminal justice system shouldn't try to investigate and then try the case if evidentiary thresholds are met. But this whole thing with Anonymous is not about the criminal justice system working properly. They believe it has completely failed to operate as it should, which is what you are advocating. So they are picking up the slack and trying to bring down societal pressure for this small town with seemingly warped priorities to get their moral compass back.

And that is exactly the problem. The authorities have done NOTHING regarding this rape case. That's why Anonymous has stepped in. That's why they are bringing awareness to this, because these guys should be prosecuted, yet the authorities aren't doing anything because they are football players for Steubenville.

And how many times do we need to tell you they weren't prosecuted and were hardly even investigated. That's why this is going on. They are exposing the corruption in steubenville. Any attack on a football website was a serious matter, while rapes were ignored and covered up. Not a single person gives a fuck about your authentication bull shit. They are calling a massive amount of attention to it to get those involved prosecuted since it was ignored in the first place.

Rules evidently don't apply to Big Red players, so why should they apply to Anonymous?

Eh, the world in its current state couldn't exist without lawyers. Just as it couldn't exist without farmers. Lawyers are a cog in the way society is currently set up. But also, there is more to life than legal ramifications. There are moral considerations. There are psychological considerations. There are financial considerations. There are societal (family and friend relationships) considerations.

It would be lacking to only view any situation purely from the legal context as there is more to life than that.
  • Manhattan Buckeye
I don't disagree with you Fly4Fun, I just don't understand why Anonymous has so much more credibility than the authorities. I can see reasons why both can be compromised, yet reading the thread it seems like like one is infallible. Don't get it.
