gutSeriously? Pretty obvious that crap was planted.
What I don't get is why Hester got all pissy - has to be making $5k an episode (probably 3-4X that by Season 3), and gets the occasional goody. I'd think that's better then he was ever making in a year on his store (not to mention the free publicity).
The other thing that's rigged is the valuations put on some of that junk (hey, this Craftsman drill retails for $70....I'll probably get $110 for it).
Also, I think the episode where Barry has the drummer for The Police signs a set of drums was bull...apparently the drum set they showed (which was different from what was shown in the storage locker) was worth maybe $500...and he claimed $1000+, plus the signature. -

The valuations crack me up, everything is way over valued. -
Mohican00Next you're going to tell me American Pickers is fake and so is Pawn Stars

Tigerfan00Who was the female that got plastic surgery done?

se-alum
Brandi I would imagine. She's the only semi-attractive female on the show.Tigerfan00;1341038 wrote:Who was the female that got plastic surgery done? -
thavoiceEveryone once in awhile they have that one older lady on the show who has some nice pins as well, but it has to be brandi he is talking about.
We all know it is staged to some extent like EVERY reality show, except for The Hills that MTV used to run with that LC chick, THAT was 100% legit and pure reality.....
They HAVE to do it and do some extreme editing or it would be absolutely boring as hell and no one would watch!!
Read alot of this yesterday and apparently Dave wasnt the only one on the cast who brought it up at the meetings. I guess he was the one making the biggest deal of it and kept pushing so he got the ax. I bet the others just had concerns and wanted to tone down the plants a bit.
Look up some stuff about the real pawn stars. Some guy, who has waaay too much time on his hands, has done alot of research on it. HE has 'proof' that they hire actors from some companies to come on into the store and sell the items. He also has pics of how some of the items changed and were nto the actual one that we initially saw.
If ya notice....they arent really nervous when they are on camera. I imagine most people would clam up some so I bet the hire alot of actors to bring stuff in. OF COURSE rick and the staff do research on the items and he just doesnt know all of that stuff from teh top of his head, and I am OK wiht that because it makes it a little bit more interesting! -
Fly4FunFirst professional wrestling... now this? How will I go on?

Operation Repo at least admits it in their intro that it's a recreation of the event -
said_aouitaI bet the "Biker Build Off" is completely legit with it's voting too.

bases_loadedLove the internet...this article lead me to Hunter Moore...missed the boat in 2010 apparently, but looking forward to the new site..

thavoicehttp://www.radaronline.com/exclusives/2012/12/how-storage-wars-faked-show-tried-hide-it-new-lawsuit-details
Has some new info on it that i hadnte read in other articles.
For instance....they wanted hester to provide some of the valuable items that were to be placed in the units he bought. He first agreed then argued it, and they dropped doing it.
:season three they stopped using their own locks on the units when they bought them and had to use locks provided by the producers, so they could plant stuff, and then during the filmig produciers would prompt him to look deaper into some of certain boxes while at the units to find the stuff they planted.
"Hester is informed and believes that a company called Off the Wall Antiques provides Defendants access to an entire warehouse full of marquee items, and in exchange, the owners of the establishment are regularly featured on the series,” according to the suit."
"Interviews with cast members are scripted, biding scenes are faked to the extent that as cast members are seen bidding while no auction is being held"
and taht the show helps some of them buy their lockers.....probably jarrod and boobsMcgee, and probably the tank top guy -
se-alumI'm not really sure why anyone would care that it's fake or think it was ever real. I watch for the same reason I watch American Pickers and Pawn Stars. It's interesting to see different items and learn the history behind them.

thavoiceDef agree with ya there.
I am not surprised that they do stuff like this to fake it becuase if they didnt...the show would be pretty Fn boring.
I will still watch when I come across it.
Now the other one, from texas, just cannot get into that one just like the New orleans pawn show. Some reason just doesnt do the same. -

Oh, they could make it real and not boring, but it would take so long and so much footage to capture enough for one good show, that it wouldn't be a viable monetary option for show creators.thavoice;1341183 wrote:Def agree with ya there.

American Pickers is not fake. Their shop is 20 minutes from my hometown in Illinois. I'm sure they stage some of the stuff (like driving by a house and randomly stopping in)...but you can go into their shop and find things that you've seen on the show. Here are some photos of the shop I took this summer:Mohican00;1340895 wrote:Next you're going to tell me American Pickers is fake and so is Pawn Stars
My kids (on the left and the two after the 2nd kid on the left) in front of the car on the show.

justincredibleThe store may be real but the show is completely scripted and staged.
-
SonofanumpThose pics are fake, no way anyone would dress their kids in Cubs gear.

I hear that's considered child abuse outside of Illinois.Sonofanump;1341244 wrote:Those pics are fake, no way anyone would dress their kids in Cubs gear. -

This. The two dudes even admitted it.justincredible;1341236 wrote:The store may be real but the show is completely scripted and staged.
They came through WCH about two years ago, one of my friends ran into them at a gas station. They asked for a good bar, after which we all met up with them. Actually pretty cool guys, the short one kept telling us how much he liked fat chicks. He said at first the show was pretty legit, but it's gotten more and more staged as it's went along. He said they can't really complain though because, and I quote, "you fuckers would do it to be on TV too". Exact quote from the one that looks like Bob Sagget. I'd drink beers with them again, anyday. -
bases_loadedDid you buy your camera from their shop to take those pictures?
