Point is, they can have their event and it can be covered by the tech world. But CNN? Fox News? No. It's not "news".
One would argue the fact it is on CNN, Fox, etc makes it ingenious marketing.

Out of ALL the bullshit that is passed off as "news" today, you want to complain about the Apple announcement?

Thanks for pointing that out. With a post that adds no value either.

I see they used a new connector, forcing everyone to buy an adapter to use any current accessories.

I see a lot of people whining about this. It had to happen eventually, right? The previous connector was, I think, 9 years old. The new one is faster and smaller. QQing about an extra $10 adapter when you're paying over $200 for a phone is laughable. Things aren't going to be 100% compatible forever.

I wasn't surprised by this at all. Producers will be pumping out the adapters like crazy. I'm sure you'll be able to snag one off of ebay for a few bucks. I just got a "dock extender" recently.....$4.99 shipped.

When & where did they say this connector is faster? Smaller to decrease size, and make room for other things, maybe, but i don't recall them giving specs on data transfer with the new cable.
    Did i miss something?

Do a search, every article I've seen says it will be faster. They are calling it "lightening".....staying in theme with "Thunderbolt" for displays.

Don't disagree. Though it was always too big to begin with, physically.

I've seen those articles, but the only specs that Apple released was that it was 80% smaller. I haven't read anything that says why or how it will be faster. Thats what I'm looking for.
As for the 5, i wasn't impressed. If i sell my 4s, ill by the Galaxy S3.

Still looks like a nice upgrade over the 4s. The integrated LTE modem (Nokia is doing the same thing in their new phones) will really make a difference on the battery life compared to some of the current Android phones. I found this video to be a little funny though.

Yeah, who knows. Mine syncs perfectly find right now via wireless when connected to wifi.

The S3 is a hot phone, but still too big for my liking. The screen is ridiculous. I doubt I'll ever stray from an iPhone. It's too good when paired with my MacBook.

I'll wait for the "5s"

Yeah. They are claiming 8 hours browsing on LTE. I can't get an hour out of my EVO on 4G.
  • TedSheckler
Yea! If my cable isn't faster...that's a deal breaker!

    Shut up.

It's still a USB 2.0 cable, so data transfer isn't going to be any quicker. But they say it's digital, so maybe audio out is better.

I'm curious what you mean when you say "paired with my MacBook"?

In regards to syncing, iCloud etc.

I DJ and I use iTunes to manage and sort all of my music. So I'm constantly changing what music and playlists are on my iPhone. Like I said earlier I sync and backup wirelessly when my phone is near the laptop. It works great. I'm not suggesting that other phones don't work as well because I've never tried it, but like I said, the iPhone+MB is a perfect match.

That's what I wondered. iTunes works the same on all phones. Obviously not iCloud, though.

I agree, they needed a smaller/newer connecter. The iPod dock was huge, if they were nice they would have just used micro-usb.
