Any advice for a fruit & veggies cleanse?

  • SportsAndLady
Never do shit like this...I mean I don't eat the worst diet in the world, but I certainly am not a healthy eater by any means.

Randomly read about this and decided I want to try it...my friend/roommate is going to do it with me, which is a huge plus for me.

Anyone ever do this? Advice? Suggestions? 1-10 on the difficulty level?

Fast for a few days. Veggie/Fruit cleanses don't work, not now and not ever.

    Why's that?

Tell me, what do you hope to accomplish by only eating vitamins, minerals and fiber? Do you think your body is going to just flush the toxins right out of your body? Please, save your broscience for the gym.

Just kinda bored...wanna try and see if I can do a cleanse...love fruits and veggies so figured I'd try it.

Not trying to cure cancer here sleeper.

    I also don't go to a gym...prob should, but don't.

I love fruits and veggies too.

There's nothing more cleansing then depriving your body of calories for 4-5 days and forcing it to use body fat to sustain itself. Where do you think most of your toxins are stored?

That's terrible. No gyms in Chicago?

Fruits have a ton of calories.

I'm not a body/health/diet guy, so I guess I am just failing to see why this isn't good for me? From everything I've read, they make you feel great after it.

    Yeah and vitamins.

I'm not stopping you. It's not going to kill you or do any significant damage. If the placebo works for you, then have at it.

Just not a big workout guy...I keep my body in decent shape without having to go to a gym/workout.

But will I benefit from it at all?
  • THE4RINGZ
The lack of protein in this cleanse makes it dangerous to follow for an extended period of time.

I've never seen any peer-reviewed research on the subject, so I don't know. But we can go ahead and ask He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named; hopefully you know who that is because its against the rules to say his name on these forums without getting banned for a month. He'll be along shortly.

    Even 7 days?

7 days? That's 7 days too many without bacon.

    To the OP:

Ever seen the documentary Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead? Pretty compelling. Makes me want to do a fruit and veggies cleanse myself for a couple days. Just to see how I would feel.

Never seen it...like I said, I'm not a big health guy; I don't really get into it. But I want to see if I can do this. Fuck it, why not?

    I have heard that a 2-3 day f&v cleanse is better than a 7 day...maybe I'll try that

    Day 8:

    Lots and lots of bacon

Fruits and Veggies are for poor people.

    REPS !!!

I've never tried to cleanse. Not to sure I believe in it. (see I'm learning from Sleeper or at least taking notes or believed this before) A cleanse for me would probably be drinking a crap load of Miller Lites. I'm not sure after 7 years, of not having it, if my body could handle that stuff.

Damn you sleeper to HELL! I have to rep you for that!

Yeah, sorry dude. A fruit and veggie cleanse isn't going to do anything magical for you. Any effects you feel are what is called the placebo effect.

Not to make fun, but this is very "broscience"-ish, as sleeper so eloquently put it.

If I convinced you mentally that skipping in place for fifteen seconds a day could make you feel better, and you started skipping for fifteen seconds day and started feeling better, it is because your mind genuinely believes it is helping, whether or not it benefits you physiologically.
    (sorry for all those commas)
