Any advice for a fruit & veggies cleanse?

sleeperAnd my posted was deleted for referring to Voldemort. Wow.

SportsAndLadyI haven't taken sleeper's posts as trolling at all....obviously I always take sleeper's posts with a grain of salt, but I can tell when he's actually posting correct information and not just trolling, which he's doing here.
I just genuinely don't know if this is a "good thing" as I'm not really a huge diet guy. I am not fat or anything lol pretty skinny actually--albeit could afford to lose a few pounds.
I guess I'm not really doing this to drop 20 pounds (I could do that if I wanted..I've done it twice before and I'm only 23), just read a few things about it while I was bored at work the other day and thought it'd be neat to try it. But if you guys are saying it's not worth it, I won't do it. I do want to try something though...fasting, which I'm assuming basically means not eating then eating a shit ton, doesn't sound like something I could do lol -

You can make fun, I really don't mind haha I posted this fully knowing some would take it as I'm some nut hugging diet freak. I had fish sticks and french fries for dinner last night.tcarrier32;1246257 wrote:Yeah, sorry dude. A fruit and veggie cleanse isn't going to do anything magical for you. Any effects you feel are what is called the placebo effect.
Not to make fun, but this is very "broscience"-ish, as sleeper so eloquently put it.
If I convinced you mentally that skipping in place for fifteen seconds a day could make you feel better, and you started skipping for fifteen seconds day and started feeling better, it is because your mind genuinely believes it is helping, whether or not it benefits you physiologically.
(sorry for all those commas)
Just want to try something and figured I could do this...but really? ALL the effects I feel from this will simply be placebo? I don't know if I can believe that...how can eating nothing but fruits and vegetables not at least be somewhat good for me? -
like_thatSimply changing your diet to something much healthier over a long period time will cleanse your body. It's a lifestyle change. 5-7 days isn't going to do much for you.

I'm prettty weird...I'll go 2 months and eat healthy and lose a little weight, then go 2 months where I basically whatever I want (although I do lessen my portions).like_that;1246579 wrote:Simply changing your diet to something much healthier over a long period time will cleanse your body. HereticI'd kind of stagnated around 190ish, so (because a co-worker mentioned it), started mixing a bit of apple cider vinegar with bottles of water. Has the dual purpose of being (a) a bit of a body flusher AND (b) a bit of an appetite suppressor.
32-oz bottle of Braggs costs about $6.30 at the local Krogers in the organic stuff aisle, while a cheaper brand is about $4.99. Don't know if it REALLY works or if I'm being fooled by this whole placebo broscience deal, but I've taken about five more pounds off in the past couple weeks, so that might be worth a try. -

That's not that weird. I see people doing it all the time, especially around our age.SportsAndLady;1246584 wrote:I'm prettty weird...I'll go 2 months and eat healthy and lose a little weight, then go 2 months where I basically whatever I want (although I do lessen my portions).
If you ever heard of enzyme pills. I suggest trying those. Pretty good way to flush out your system when you eat cooked food, or crappy food. -

They aren't diet pills. They are natural digestive aids. It helps breaks down food for you. Very helpful when you cook food, because once you cook food, it kills the digestive enzymes.SportsAndLady;1246604 wrote:I've always heard to stay away from diet pills...enzyme pills are alright? -

I Wear PantsAny sort of "cleanse" is probably retarded.

Pick6Are you serious about losing weight, or just want to do this "cleanse"?

It can. Some need that 5-7 day change.like_that;1246579 wrote:Simply changing your diet to something much healthier over a long period time will cleanse your body. It's a lifestyle change. 5-7 days isn't going to do much for you.
Set small goals to reach them, then continue setting the goals. Doing a veggie/fruit smoothie change for 6 days is a start. It's amazing what those guys did in Fat, Sick, & Nearly Dead. They were monitored closely by doctors, as well. One guy even went on to start his own "free" nutrition program with the smoothies.
Quality improvement on what the guys used to be. -

It can help, but my point is it won't do shit if you do a "cleanse" for 5-7 days then go back to eating shit.OSH;1246906 wrote:It can. Some need that 5-7 day change.

mellaDon't know about a cleanse but I got a nutribullet and have been having 1 or 2 fruit and veggie based drinks a day for about 2 months. I add flax seed oil and honey to most of them. It has made a difference in how I feel and I have been a lot more "regular". Some days it feels like a cleanse.

A friend of mine is in Osteopathic Medicine school and he does 5-7 day cleanses four times a year. He's doing fine with his routine. -
