Olympics (Discussion and Results aka Spoilers)

  • Fly4Fun
I think China will win the medal count again.
  • BigAppleBuckeye
Not to beat a dead horse, but NBC's coverage is an abomination. I sincerely hope that after this Olympic contract is over, a network with some sense of modern-day content consumption gets the right to the games.

Shhhh .... don't tell me if Phelps won a medal today, I am waiting till tonight!!!

Unfortunately you're stuck with this horse shit until 2020. So the only immediate hope is they hire someone that has a fucking clue.

    Let me add one more

    Fuck NBC

I will not watch it online and if I accidentally see the spoiler...which I will no matter how hard I try not to....will not watch primetime if I know.

at least the next summer games are in brazil - only an hour ahead. now if anything gets taped-delayed for those, i think 30 rock may need the riot police surrounding it

You're talking about the network who tape delayed an event happening in the SAME GODDAMN TIME ZONE in 2010. People in Seattle got to see the US/Canada gold medal hockey game in Vancouver, 140 miles away, 3 hours after it actually happened. Aired live in the East, though.

(NBC may have caved in at the very end and showed it live, I forget, but they had no intent to at first)

oh wow. nbc's incompetence is stunning

The NBC online coverage is bad. I also have had to close out and restart some videos.
Plus, not showing the 400M live was really stupid as many already know the result.

Not a fan thus far. I watched a lot of stuff online in 2008, and really the quality is a little worse, and that is truly sad.
But, now I am watching some of the boxing on CNBC. Middle weights on now. Pretty neat.

why the fuck aren't they showing the finals events live? I mean, they're showing badminton, fencing, team handball, volleyball, etc., but not one fucking final--what a crock of shit!!!
  • ptown_trojans_1
For those that are interested, an American boxer, from Cleveland, is about to hit the ring soon on CNBC.

It's all about ratings. Even though everyone was pissed about last nights ceremonies, it set a ratings record for an Olympics not on our soil (23.0 rating, 7% higher than Beijing), so they made money.

Unless people stop watching in prime time, they aren't going to change, regardless of how fucking retarded it is.

Though Ebersol isn't there any more, they still embrace his outdated logic. Sadly, the worst thing that ever happened to NBC Sports was him surviving that plane crash.

Gausha, the American boxer, looks to be down 8-7 going into the final round. Guy he is fighting is taller and has a longer reach.
  • ptown_trojans_1
Wooooooo Gausha just knocked the dude on his ass twice. What a final round. A great thunder of punches to the body and then uppers.
  • Ironman92
Gibb/Rosenthal looked tough in beach Volleyball
  • Ironman92
    Gausha wins!
  • ptown_trojans_1
And the man from Cleveland wins the fight. Winner by knockout. Terrel Gausha advances to the round of 16.

The Olympics are providing a nice break from the every-day sports world. The top stories on ESPN today are about the Jets fan booing (a shirtless) Tebow at practice and the Magic naming a new head coach. Women's soccer is more entertaining than any of that crap.

Oh yeah. ESPN basically has to make up news every July and August

I'm currently watching some women's handball. France v. Norway. Norway has a few good looking chicks on their handball team.

Thought I heard them say an Ohio fighter won. They happen to mention if/when his next fight may be aired?
  • Mulva
I'm pretty pumped for the Olympics soccer channel. I'll be watching that shit all day tomorrow.
  • Tigerfan00
So is NBC going to show tomorrows events live or will they be aired on monday?
