Breaking Bad Season 5 Discussion Thread

Really only two ways for the show to end: with Walt behind bars or in a body bag.

"Too close to the sun" could be Walt's wife. He and Jesse had been talking about that, and rather than tell his girl Jesse broke-up. Between that and the break-down, I think Walt realizes his wife is a risk now.

Seriously. He still had over $100k(?) and that's just one cook. In two more weeks he could easily retire.

He could have been talking about Mike as well with the hazard pay and not talking/telling Walt or Jesse about it.

He can't retire in two weeks. He had said he needed About $700k to be finished and he's not near that yet and still has things to pay for like the rest of Hank's PT.

Though if they cook one batch a week at the same pay they're making (adjusting since Walt and Mike won't owe Jesse 40 grand each batch) then Walt is making $9.1 million a year which is more than what he made with gus.

No but I can get you 1200 boxes of pseudo a week.

Assuming the $40k cut covers the methyaline costs going forward, he's getting over $100k a batch. They said they could do 3-4 batches a week, easily. Retire in two weeks.

That was hilarious, and perhaps enlightening, that the batch has a wholesale value of like $1.3M and after expenses they're left with @ $300k.

No they said they have 3-4 houses which they tent a week out of which they can choose one. They can do one batch a week.

Anyone else pulling for Walt to die? He really is a walking calamity. I'm curious how it'll end, my guess is Hank putting a bullet in Walt, it seems like that will be a full circle moment.

My guess is Jesse pulls the trigger. He'll find out Walt has been using him as a pawn by watching Jane die, kill Gael, Brock in the hospital so he is on board with killing Gus and most recently having him break up with Brock's mother with that speech last episode. If he finds out any or all of that I think it's enough to put him over the edge.

The sleeper pick to off Walt is Skyler. She's really losing it and is terrified of Walt now that she knows he is a killer. Maybe it's the only way she thinks Walt Jr and Holly are safe?

I'm thinking Skylar isn't going to be around for the end.

    I agree with this.

I also like that Mike is a lead character now. Curious how this season plays out - sucks they're only doing 8 episodes this year and then finishing the last 8 next year.

Guess I misunderstood. I thought a batch a day, so 3-4 a week. Yeah, I suppose they only take their equipment out when the tent comes down, so their equipment is tied-up 3-4 days.

Or Hank just puts all the pieces together. Might not be as dramatic or interesting, but there's a lot of ways for things to unravel.

My money might be on Jesse. When things start going south, he's the only one not on the radar (I don't think). There are really only two loose ends preventing him from walking worry-free.

[SP]I'm calling it now, Skyler kills herself via hanging as foreshadowed by the floss tightening around her finger or she ends up doing something that makes Walt strangle her foreshadowed by the same thing.[/SP]

Also, Walt Jr. is like "b-b-b-b-bitch you better give me back my bacon".
  • End of Line
[sp]Incredible episode. The scene with Skylar and Walt could possibly be the best of the series so far. I can see Walt using the Ricin on Skylar in the near future w/o a doubt. Or Skylar taking her own life.[/sp]

Did you notice that scene and the pool scene were almost completely one continuous shot? Cranston is amazing.

Saw a blurb the other day that women attempt more suicides than men, but men are 3x as successful at it. Puts Skylar's lame-ass attempt into perspective. Dumb broad.

That wasn't a suicide attempt from her. That was a way to get the kids away from Walt.

So looking unstable and a danger to herself - in front of her sister who already saw her have a breakdown - is going to help get her kids away from Walt? It could get her committed, but that's about all I see from it.

    Women aren't bright.

It did help her kids get away from Walt. They're at Marie's. She isn't exactly a master planner and is too terrified to be thinking properly in the long term. Like she said, even if it's a second she considers any time away from Walt to be good for the kids.

I suppose. I still say she's projecting her own fears and insecurities and blaming it on the kids. I don't think you could say that wasn't a suicide attempt. That would be a little too clever for someone that, we all agree, isn't very bright.

I kept telling my kid that I was hoping that Walt would pull out duel pistols and kill Hank and Marie at the dinner table when they were having a heart to heart with him...lol. I really want to see Skylar, Marie and Hank die.

I have to say, I'm halfway through the 4th season, and I'm yet to see why Walt is such a badass.
