Scarlet_BuckeyeI played with an iPhone 4S for the first time tonight and all I have to say is DAY-UM! Siri is AMAZING. I was blown away with how INTELLIGENT it was. It really picked up [almost] every single command I asked it - this was especially impressive considering how their was so much commotion and noise in the Apple store.
I was amazed at how jam-packed the Apple store was and how dead the Microsoft store was. It was like night and day. I literally thought it was closing time in the Microsoft store and like 2pm or 6pm in the Apple store. Unbelievable crowd difference.
I was a bit frustrated, however, with how I gave the command to "Open Facebook" or "Open Twitter" or "Send Tweet" and Siri was unable to do this. Not sure why. When I asked, the Apple specialist seemed to think that Siri could only open Apple apps, and other 3rd party apps (such as Facebook and Twitter) could not be opened.
I was damn near close to buying the iPhone 4S last night. Fortunately (or unfortunately) they had a LINE outside for those waiting to purchase the iPhone 4S (the line was about 8 deep) and there was NO GUARANTEE that they would even have an iPhone 4S for those when it was their turn.
Ughhhhhh....
I really wish the iPhone 4S was 4G. It would have made my decision a no brainer. Now... I'm tossing and turning trying to decide between the iPhone 4S, Nexus Prime, DROID RAZR, or BIONIC. Grrrrrr... #1stWorldProblems -

In terms of 4G, how often do you surf while away from Wi-Fi?Scarlet_Buckeye;938319 wrote:I played with an iPhone 4S for the first time tonight and all I have to say is DAY-UM! Siri is AMAZING. Also, the iPhone 4S has much faster download speeds in terms of 3G capability. This holds especially true with the AT&T version, because AT&T's 3G network has HSPA+...
However, my buddies Verizon iPhone 4S has pretty fast download speeds as well... In the same area, my iPhone 4 had a download speed of about 1.68 MBps and he was nagging about 7.08 MBps which rivals some Wi-Fi speeds...
So it may not be 4G, and it may not nag the higher end 4G speeds, but it's definitely faster than your normal 3G phone, and in our comparisons, about 3X as fast as the iPhone 4.
Now, this of course varies on area, as I've read some people are getting close to 10MBps on their 4S, while others are getting about 2 or 3... -
hoops23As far as Siri and FaceBook/Twitter... There is a work around.

I'd imagine as Siri matures, it'll be updated to naturally update your social media accounts. Remember, Siri is still considered "BETA". -

If you are on Verizon, it will be more like 1.5 - 2 mbs on 3g to up to 10-15mbs on 4G. Big difference.Scarlet_Buckeye;938497 wrote:I surf the web very often without being in a wifi area.

I understand you love apple but 7.08 Mbps on a cdma network (ev-do rev a)? Really?hoops23;938330 wrote:In terms of 4G, how often do you surf while away from Wi-Fi?

Yeah. The same can be said about AT&T's speeds as well. They aren't incredible, by any means.Jawbreaker;938503 wrote:I understand you love apple but 7.08 Mbps on a cdma network (ev-do rev a)? Really?
Verizon's 4G LTE network humiliates it. -

It is incredible if he is getting 7.08 mbps on a cdma network. Some might say it is magical or just BS.dlazz;938560 wrote:Yeah. The same can be said about AT&T's speeds as well. They aren't incredible, by any means.

hoops23Actually, it was my fault. My friend has an AT&T iPhone 4S, I have a Verizon iPhone 4. And yes, he was pulling in 7.08...
His highest has been a little above 8. -

What kind of issues are you having? They will only load to the Cloud when you're connected to Wi-Fi. Is that what you're talking about?

gut^^^I won't call those speeds lousy - VZW quoted 8-12mbps d/l for LTE. But I'm seeing reports ranging from 6-8 up to 25+, depending on proximity to a tower and time of day.
IMO, for a single person wanting to watch HD Netflix on a device, 8mbps is more than sufficient. Most websites don't actually seem to d/l much faster than 3mbps, anyway, perhaps unless they are flash rich. -
Crimson streakAnyone having any problems with it? My gf's is freezing a lot and takes forever to turn off and gets really hot. Mine works perfectly fine so I think we're going to exchange hers
-
se-alumI've not had any problems.
-
se-alumActually, the biggest problem I've come across so far, is the inability to delete individual pictures from the photostream.
