Manhattan BuckeyeThe Player and Get Shorty were hits? And I never said The Artist wasn't a good movie, I just said Hugo was better. I think a lot of people would put up The Artist with SIL, English Patient and Hurt Locker of forgettable Oscar winners - doesn't mean they weren't good.
Read fail. Jesus guys, is this amateur hour tonight. -
Commander of AwesomeThe Artist has a 98% on RT, while English Patient has an 83%. Wouldn't put them in the same category.
Just for reference -
Player 98%
Get Short 86%
Top Gun 49% (lol, I'm actually surprised by this score. Turns out thinking its a shitty movie isn't as uncommon as I thought) -

There is no need for a sequel, esp now other than to whore dumbasses out for money, (see MIB3, Dirty Dancing 2 [lol] Son of the Mask, Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull, TMNT III)
The original Top Gun is a classic, go fuck yourselves. Sometimes you gotta put critic ratings aside for movies you grew up with.SportsAndLady;1198116 wrote:I'm with you on that...Top Gun just isn't that good to me. -

If MB posted more often, he easily would have been in the worst competition and possibly make a run.Manhattan Buckeye;1198121 wrote:The Player and Get Shorty were hits? If I posted more often this board would increase in actual conversation, and a retort that is more than "your mom goes to college".like_that;1198129 wrote:If MB posted more often, he easily would have been in the worst competition and possibly make a run.
Did someone actually just post the critics' review of Get Shorty? You have to be kidding me.
Next think I'll read is how The Muppets was a great movie because it pulled a 90% critic rating, even though for the most part it sucked. -

Oh I see, guess we'll only use critic ratings when it supports your argument.Manhattan Buckeye;1198146 wrote:If I posted more often this board would increase in actual conversation, and a retort that is more than "your mom goes to college".

I guess I'll just wait for Marty's review. -
Manhattan BuckeyeWrong again, there are plenty of films that got poor reviews that are awesome. See Roger Ebert's initial review of The Usual Suspects.

The point is you are contradicting yourself. You are only using critic ratings when it plays in your favor. As smug as you are acting, you would think you would pick up on that. Hilarious.Manhattan Isadore;1198170 wrote:And your point is.

Some films that had good ratings (The Muppets) aren't very good.
Some films that had poor ratings (The Usual Suspects) are very good.
Where is the contradiction?
Do you guys even read your own posts? The only reason I got pissy was because I got pissed on for using a word longer than two syllables.
Jesus. Can we get back to movies? -
Commander of AwesomeUsual Suspects has an 89% on Rotten Tomatoes, 77 on Metacritic. That's pretty good rating by critics. Any other reach fails?

That is a correct CURRENT review - the initial reviews were poor. I know because I was an adult back in the mid-90's. It is similar to how many industry insiders believed that a certain film in 1977 would be the biggest bomb ever - called STAR WARS.
It took until 1999 until The Phantom Menace proved it to be a bomb. -

Phantom Menace made over $400 million in the first week, Hardly a bomb. Is it a good movie? Hell no, but not a box office bomb.Manhattan Buckeye;1198195 wrote:"Usual Suspects has an 89% on Rotten Tomatoes, 77 on Metacritic. That's pretty good rating by critics. Any other reach fails?"

Also Rotten tomatoes/metacritic dont go back and re-review films. They use the sources when the movie was released. It's not even worth debating with you anymore, you've been proven incorrect in your assessment, but continue despite this.
Artist is a good film BD, if you go see it, you wont be disappointed you did. -
like_thatCongrats MB, you recall the ONE critic who didn't like Usual Suspects.

OneBuckeyeThis thread really went to shit. Not sure why you two are hammering MB so bad. Way to **** up yet another thread.

Yeah and this really helps to get things back on discussion. The argument was over, but you had to provide your input. STFU with that bullshit.OneBuckeye;1198232 wrote:This thread really went to shit. Not sure why you two are hammering MB so bad. Way to **** up yet another thread.
We were arguing about movie critics. Isn't this thread about movies? Grow some thicker skin. Not every thread needs to consist of everyone holding hands and singing kumbaya.
Anyway, anyone see the trailer for the new Wes Andersen film? -

I have, can't wait for a national release. I really want to see it and I'm interested in how Bruce Willis will be under direction of Wes Anderson.like_that;1198242 wrote:

Commander of AwesomeOK, so if someone comes in with an incorrect statement and I correct them, and use links/facts as my backup I'm now "attacking" them. Got it, thanks for the clarification OneBuckeye.
