Lone Survivor does sound awesome. This was the first time I had read a "review" of it though. Now I am even more pumped. If they are gearing it towards award season, they must be pretty sure its gonna be awesome.

And speaking of Marky Mark, anyone else see the trailer for Prisoners. He is (one of) the Executive Producer(s) for it. Looks pretty damn good.

Yeah, I know Luttrell was trying to get this thing going for quite a long time now. Over the years there were rumors it was happening but until they signed on MW it just seemed like a pipe dream that it would happen. Met the guy a couple of years ago, seemed pretty down to earth.

Anymore I am drawn to 'true' stories and I cannot wait to see this one. Read the book a few years ago and started it up again in early June for the anniversary of the OP and the movie coming out.

I watched an IMAX 3d screening of Pacific Rim tonight. It was entertaining. Great effects and fight scenes. Acting and dialogue pretty bad. Almost seemed corny on purpose. But the fights were badass

The Robots had more charisma than the main guy.

While I get what the others are saying -- being lost in space would be an overwhelmingly defeating and depressing premise, IMO it is hard to be terrified of something that could never happen to you.
However, there was a story on Entertainment Tonight a couple months ago (I didn't watch the show by choice) about a woman who fell off a cruise ship in the middle of the night, and was basically stranded in the middle of the ocean because the ship continued on it's path. She was alone in the dark in the water with possible sharks nearby. Now THAT would be fucking terrifying. The fucked up thing is that the women is trying to sue Carnival because it's their fault she drank too much and fell off the boat.

How can you say for sure how terrifying that would be? Have you ever fallen off a cruise ship and stranded swimming with sharks?!?!

Obviously some posters don't understand the concept of an irrational fear.

    Once or twice.

Or have imaginations. Like, there's this low-budget found-footage horror film called Grave Encounters about your typical Ghost Hunters-like group who get more than they bargained for when they get trapped in a former hospital that seems to rearrange its floor plan as they walk through it while the ghosts get more and more hostile and violent and everyone dies except for one guy who winds up lobotomized and completely insane.

Not the sort of super realistic thing I could see happening to me, but I was freaked out for a while at just the concept of being in that sort of situation.

That was my whole point. And that's why I said "when's the last time you've been in outer space?" To say something is your "worst fear," I would think then that there would need to be a certain level of "likeliness to happen" that would need to exist.

Now that's completely different. The chances of that happening are somewhat likely because people frequently go out on boats/cruises/the-ocean.

I'm just saying... why let someone stress you out when the likelihood/chances of it ever happening to you is less than 1%, likely.

I realize you can turn around and say the same thing about an anaconda or whatever, but you have a much better chance of something like that than getting "lost in space." Now if you were Neil Armstrong or something, then I'd say you have a very legitimate fear.

If PacificRim bombs, guess what people? More sequels and remakes than ever. Please support a film made for geeks!

This, according to apparently everybody on Twitter. I'm pretty sure people joined Twitter during the showing of this movie, exclusively to tweet about Sharknado.
  • Scarlet_Buckeye
Sharknado was the rage of Twitter last night. It was Trending and I read it had something like over 5,000 tweets per minute. It's all people are talking about!
