"Deep amber color. Highly polished aromas of creamy vanilla, pickling spices, and buttery pralines. A delicate, silky entry leads to a dry-yet-fruity medium-to-full body of honeyed grain, sweet baking spice, vanilla bean, and pralines. Finishes with a long, rich fruity caramel, peppery spice and mineral accented fade. A elegant sipping or mixing bourbon." -
GOONx19The Liquor Barn down the road had a sale on Bacardi Gold ($14/handle) so I'll be drinking the that for a while.

Yeah, I always get a laugh out of these ridiculous descriptions as well. Some are helpful but some are just overboard.DeyDurkie5;1166420 wrote:yeah, when I go for an alcohol beverage I want it to have pickling spices and buttery pralines. give me a break. -
bigdaddy2003Web, have you ever tried Crystal Head Vodka? I couldn't remember if you said you were or weren't a vodka person.

WebFire
Not generally a vodka person. Usually just in mixed drinks. I do whiskey.bigdaddy2003;1166676 wrote:Web, have you ever tried Crystal Head Vodka? I couldn't remember if you said you were or weren't a vodka person. -
wildcats20Stoli and Sunny D right now.
When this bottle is done, I'll move on to the Smirnoff 100 in the freezer. -
stroups
I don't know about all that. It is only about $28 a fifth and is my go to bourbon. If I could describe it out of that jumbled mess it would probably be "peppery spice and mineral accented fade."WebFire;1166302 wrote:About $30.

killer_ewokMaker's 46 or just regular Maker's? I'm probably gonna grab some in the next day or so and was wondering which was better.

O-TrapOban 14-Year. Good night for it.

killer_ewokNo help from the whiskey/bourbon crowd on here?

Depends, on price and what you are looking for.killer_ewok;1180292 wrote:Maker's 46 or just regular Maker's? I'm probably gonna grab some in the next day or so and was wondering which was better.
I like the 46, but just neat, or with an ice cube. It has a richer flavor, that doesn't make sense to really mix, unless it is a Manhattan. If you are going with that, then grab it for the price. It is usually a good amount more expensive.
But, for mixing, and just a good, solid, bourbon, go with the Maker's regular.
As to me, I bought a bottle of Eagle Rare last weekend, will dip into it later. That has become my recent go to. Pretty solid, nice price, and rich flavor. -

Thanks. What's the price difference between the 46 and regular? -
WebFireEither Maker's is for sipping. Please, if you are going to mix, buy a bottle of Jack Daniels or something.
Grab the 46 if you can. $35-40. -

Repot back how that is. I've been wanting to go for a while now, but I wasn't sure where the best places to stay. How the drives between the places were.WebFire;1181429 wrote:I'm heading to the Bourbon trail the beginning of July. I'll be buying at each di$tillery. -
WebFireWe are staying with friends who live right about in the middle. Furthest east is about 40 miles, and furthest west is about 30 miles. Taking 2 days to see them all. Can't wait.
