  Except "anything that's going on in the world" doesn't usually involve the death of a person who is responsible for the single worst act of terrorism in US history. Osama Bin Laden's actions have directly and deeply affected every single person in the United States, and people generally care about that.

  It means that Bin Laden being dead is nice but doesn't change the ten years we've been afraid of boogeyman terrorists, thousands of dead American soldiers, trillions of dollars spent, and the steady piece by piece dismantling of privacy in our country. Bin Laden being killed is a great thing and cause for elation but hopefully it's a catalyst that ignites a realization of everything we've sacrificed to achieve it.

  People are obviously excited because they feel that this is a great step towards bringing the troops back home so that more don't have to die. If you can't see that, and you can't see this as a significant event for America, then there's really something wrong with you.

  I think this is part of the realization. It is a chance to let out a sigh of relief, for a moment at least.

  He said it is a STEP to brining troops home. He didn't say that we are going to just pack everybody up and send them home. You really need to take a deep breath and gain some perspective on this whole situation.

  It is not going to be a step forward on bringing troops home...if you know anything about the people we are fighting it is just going to make them attack more and more...yes it was great that week killed him but for this war it would have been better if we never found him....
