Tigger, just give it a rest. You might as well have a "I miss Osama" sigline on your posts with how you keep going on and on with how horrible your night is because people have the gull to celebrate ___ ENDLESSLY ____ the death of Osama bin Laden due to a special forces raid who shook him loose this mortal coil.

Within you're obscene profane outrage, you clearly miss the point of WHY this is news.

Osama Bin Laden, LEADER of the Al-Qaeda terrorist group, who was responsible for the terrible and tragic attack on our nation on that September 11th, is DEAD.

That is HUGE news, as it has been 10 years in the making. Does this mean our troops are coming home? Of course not, not yet at least. But what it does mean is that all the fighting to get Osama was not done in vein. WE ended him. All the soldiers who risked their life have now done so for a cause.

What it also means is that Al-Qaeda lost their most powerful figure. The guy who put this group together. The man who recruited the terrorists who performed this terrible act.

Oh, and let's not forget the victims of 9/11. It helps provide some closure to their lives, as well as their loved ones who have been waiting for this moment.

You think this is the just the media? Look at the live shots ACROSS the country. People are celebrating. Thousands of people are at various locations, including Ground Zero. Many of the policemen and firemen who were there on 9/11 are now there celebrating.

That's why this is such "big fucking news"...

Great post. A great victory for America today. Next up Ayman al-Zawahri. Khalid Sheikh Mohammed (the architect of 9/11) will be the last to go. He has been in US custody since 2003. He has provided us with valuable intelligence. He coughed up more than a little water. He will die a painless death by lethal injection.

Thank you. I mean obviously the major networks like Fox News, CNN etc., are not going to run a story on the death of every soldier, but local papers usually do.

You fucking serious? You need to brush up on your American history. This is a great night in American history, but doesn't even come close to the greatest night in American history. The end of the Civil War or victory in the Revolutionary War was probably the greatest moment in our nation's history. In modern history I would say the end of WW2 when the Japanese surrendered signifying the end.

Anyone been able to find the official picture yet?

I can understand being pissed about a celebrities death getting more pub, but this is OSAMA BIN LADEN. THIS IS BIG NEWS.

It's impossible to have this type of breaking news each time a soldier is killed. Like I said, we all know the dangers of that line of duty and the sacrifices it entails.. But to expect every news outlet to stop what their doing because a soldier died, well, it's not realistic.

Look, Police risk their lives everyday as well. Our city just lost it's first officer to a murder while he was stopping the accused murderer on a bike citation at 3 am. He was gunned down 3 times in the back and twice in the chest.

It was BIG time news here.

But, I don't expect other outlets across the country to pick it up...

Why can't there be breaking news when a soldiers dies.....When Pat Tillmen was killed it was breaking news...but I guess since he was a Pro Athlete it should have been breaking news right?

They did for Pat Tillmen so why couldn't they for every soldier?

Do you really not see the difference? Why don't they run a story for every person that dies?
  • Midstate01
Anyone seen the picture. Fox news said they just showed it, but I missed it.

I say they bury him at sea. I love that idea. Dont give them any chance to go and celebrate his body.
  • bigkahuna
I actually agree with tiger on the Pat Tillman issue.

I mean, whether right or wrong, it is more newsworthy on a national scale when a professional football player dies than someone who isn't famous.
  • Ty Webb
I've heard they have to be very careful with how they handle his body due to procedures in Islamic religion

Look man, you just have to face the reality that we live in a world in which higher profile people's death will get more attention. It is not to devalue the life of anyone else, nor do I believe it does devalue any other soldier's death. Not everyone knows Jonny the Soldier from Anytown, USA; they do know Pat Tillman though. And Tillman's death was representative of all military deaths in Afghanistan (in my eyes). One soldier lost is one too many.

I think the "non-stop" attention of Bin Laden is a good thing. It shows that many soldiers did not die in vein. They contributed, every single soldier and troop that has served, to what transpired in Abbotalabad, Pakistan. This is a victory in this war, a MAJOR victory. The US must continue to dismantle AQ from the top. It will cause chaos within the organization leading to its demise.

So relish in the coverage. Enjoy it. You and your brother along with the many others helped contribute to this victory. Be proud.

No military member has an option to not be in the military and be a professional athlete making millions of dollars...Tillman being the only one. His death is the peak of American loyalty.
