There are several rumors floating around about why Drew II would leave. They range from the following: He's unhappy in Chapel Hill and wants to be closer to home, he doesn't get along with his teammates (other than Davis and Watts who I think he lives with), and he's worried about losing playing time to Kendall Marshall next season. Again, I don't know if any of this is true. Some sports website broke a story about Larry transferring a couple weeks ago, saying that he was transferring back out west to be near his girlfriend. When Drew was asked directly about the rumor, he said that he didn't even have a girlfriend and he had no idea how that rumor was started. He didn't deny looking into a transfer, but he made it seem as though he was staying put. However, it has been reported (unofficially) that his father contacted UCLA about a possible transfer, and there are also rumors about Pepperdine being a possible destination. I guess we'll see what happens once the NIT is over, but losing Davis and Drew, along with Thompson and Ginyard to graduation might be pretty rough. Barnes, Bullock, and Marshall better live up to expectations, especially if the rumors turn out to be true.
I don't put much into the NIT--neither do most. But this has been an important run and would be big for the future if this young UNC team could finish it and win the the whole thing.
