NIT Matchups

FairwoodKingWhen and where do the NIT matchups get posted?
-
ts12279:00 on ESPNU
-
Azubuike24The selection happens tonight, I think on ESPNU.
Illinois, Mississippi State, Virginia Tech and Rhode Island the #1 seeds most likely.
Stony Brook, Jacksonville, Weber State, Coastal Carolina, Kent State, Quinnipiac, Jackson State and Troy are all automatic qualifiers.
That leaves 20 extra spots, I'll say:
Arizona State
Dayton
Miami
Memphis
UAB
Virginia Commonwealth
Mississippi
Connecticut
Seton Hall
Marshall
Cincinnati
Wichita State
St. Louis
Tulsa
Louisiana Tech
Morehead State
William & Mary
Western Carolina
South Florida
Northwestern -
darbypitcher22field should be out later tonight
-
wildcats20AZ...
Carolina will be in the NIT. -
CinciX12If Arizona doesn't make the NIT I am driving to Tuscon and laughing right in front of Sean Miller's face. Granted he now has a gate in front of his house so I will have to do it from there.
-
Azubuike24I'm not sure UNC will make it. 8 automatic qualifiers is a big number that cuts into the at-large teams. Carolina may get in on name recognition alone. I can see a few teams declining bids as well. I wouldn't be shocked if Mississippi State, Connecticut and UAB declined bids.
-
wildcats20Carolina will be there because they are Carolina. Which just pisses me off. But Roy has already publicly said he will accept an invite if/when it comes their way
-
darbypitcher22if ESPN wants tv ratings people like Carolina and UCONN will be in there
-
CinciX12
Its still a chance to get some game experience and get better. I don't think you can turn it down just because of who you are.wildcats20 wrote: Carolina will be there because they are Carolina. wags6817Did Carolina have a winning record?
-
wildcats20Carolina was 16-16.
-
ironman0216-16.
It doesn't matter though. The NIT changed its rules recently to where a team doesn't have to be above .500 to make it.
That said, no team at or below .500 has made the NIT since the rule change. -
darbypitcher22you shouldn't be allowed to be in the post season if your record is .500
-
CinciX12Well then I'd be damn sure to at least win 2 games then
-
wags6817Ok, I did not hear about that rule change. They should be in just for the simple fact that they will sell tickets and tv time.
-
ironman02
That's probably what will get them in, but I don't even know if they deserve it. 16-16 is pretty awful. They may end up in the CBI.wags6817 wrote: Ok, I did not hear about that rule change. They should be in just for the simple fact that they will sell tickets and tv time. -
darbypitcher22if they're in the CBI they should just decline. The CBI is a rediculous waste of time
