I just think it's hilarious that you think the committee is THAT fickle.
They have been fickle before. Wouldn't be a surprise to me. Don't forget, they take into account injuries and rate the teasm based on what they will be able to put on the floor. With the injury incurred for Syracuse it will affect their seeding just like it will for Purdue.

Given that same reasoning, it is common knowledge that they will look at OSU w/ Turner in terms of the regular season because that is the lineup they will have in the tourney. The 6 games played without him don't represent the team that will be tourney; and therefore, much stake won't be put into the 3 losses when he was absent from the lineup.

I also think WV had a better overall season including the conf tourney than Cuse. They deserve a 1 seed over Cuse.
A better overall season??? Can't argue the 3 days of the conference tourney but no way in hell they had a better overall season as Syracuse won the regular season conference championship AND beat WVU AT Morgantown. Other than having a better 3 day stretch in the conference tourney.....Syracuse clearly had a better overall season than WVU-conference tourney included or not.

And Onuaku is expected to be back at practice tomorrow so why in the hell will they penalize Syracuse for an insignificant injury? He might not be 100%, but he's not gonna shrink so his mere presence will continue to be an asset for Syracuse and a potential problem for opponents. They're going to get a #1 seed. I have faith in the committee. They have stated their guidelines before and if they stand by that the Orange are a #1.

If Duke loses today does OSU get the top #2 seed?

On CBS today...they had 'Cuse(South), UK(East), Kansas(Midwest) and WVU (West).
With this, they had OSU out west as #2. If that happens, I'll take it in a heartbeat!

    Me too.

It's going to be Kansas, Kentucky, Duke, and WVU. The committee isn't going to give the 1 seed to a team that can't even win 1 game in the conference tourney over the teams that actually WON their conference tournament.

    Kentucky
    Syracuse
    Kansas
    Duke

I think WVU is more deserving personally, but I really think that Duke will get it.

Why do you guys think Georgetown is a #2 seed? They are in the 20s in the rankings. Many of you have said that the bracket guys consider the whole season, but picking G'town to be a #2 seed would seem to suggest that they are fickle

Jay Bilas did a nice comparison between Duke and WVU this morning on ESPN, saying that WVU had the advantage in nearly every measurable category. That said, I'll still be shocked if the committee doesn't give the last #1 seed to Duke, even though they probably shouldn't get it.
  • reclegend22
Duke wrapped up the one today with Jon Scheyer's cold blooded dagger in the final seconds.

    Whew. We needed it, too.

    Keep dreamin'.

I actually think WVU might deserve the #1 seed. The two teams are right next to each other in the RPI. WVU's SOS is a little better, but the the deciding factor for me is wins against the Top 15. I think Bilas said WVU had five wins against Top 15 teams, while Duke had only one. When the resumes (RPI, SOS, overall record) are so close, wins over top teams should be the tie breaker, so to speak. I think WVU gets the edge there if I'm remembering those numbers correctly from this morning.

As I've said before, WVU has a great argument -- and I wouldn't be overly upset to see them earn it. They're deserving.

But Duke gets it in the end, IMO. Duke has been the front man in this discussion for pretty much the last week and a half, and I think they did enough to stave off a furious Mountaineer rally in the end. That's what I'm basing it on.

Relax. I was simply giving my opinion. Does it really matter if a team gets a 1 seed as compared to a 2 seed? NO.
  • Rebel_ I.N.S.
G'Town will be the last 2 seed IMO because the committee will look at the strength of schedule which is #1 in the country.

I also think they will get a 2 seed. I would be foaming at the mouth if I was the 1 seed in a region with them. Probably clear sailing to the final 4.

I completely believe Duke will get the #1 seed also, and I'll be shocked if they don't, but I do believe WVU is more deserving based on the numbers. The committee loves them some Duke though, almost as much as Vitale. That said, it probably doesn't matter much. I do know one thing though. If Duke doesn't get the #1 seed, a huge block of ACC celebratory cheese will be flying through the television screen at the Krzyzewski household this evening. ;)

Wouldn't be foaming at the mouth if I was maybe Duke as the 1 seed they were dismantled by the Hoyas.
  • georgemc80
    Not sure what that means.

Is there really a difference between the last number 1 and the first number 2? Other than when they play one gets to wear the white jersey?
  • Automatik
WVU should get the last #1. They have a better resume than Duke.
  • ironman02
    georgemc80,

The only difference I can see is that a #16 has never beaten a #1, while four (I think) #15 seeds have beaten #2s. You just never know, I suppose.

we're just happy ironman that you are relegated to rooting against Duke getting a one seed this March.

Duke as a 2, sucks because there is no way they won't put them with Kentucky. The committee loves the possibility of a regional final with Duke and Kentucky. The games have been epic.

Would like to see Duke with WVU in the same region 1/2 either way. WVU is an athletic good rebounding and defensive team who can't shoot the ball. Duke is a relatively unathletic good defensive and rebounding team who can shoot the ball marginally better than WVU. I figure WVU would win, but I think the eers would be a prime upset candidate in the sweet 16 because of their inability to hit free throws and make big shots (outside of this weekend apparently)

Yep, it's a pretty sad life this March/April, but I'll just have to deal with it. Hopefully recent history repeats itself and Duke salvages my basketball season.

The one seed is the least of Duke's worries. They have been choking a lot lately in the NCAA tourney.
  • slingshot4ever
Well, OSU did everything in their power to prove they deserved a 1 seed. Still don't think they get it. I think they head out West as a 2 seed.

True, I don't think they get a 1 seed though. I think it goes to WV. And after the blowout by OSU otday you could argue for them now more than ever before. But like I said, not much difference between being a 1 seed or 2 seed.
