Huggins Stumping for #1 Seed

OK, IMO........Duke would beat both OSU and WVU. They have size and shooters, BOTH OSU and WVU have struggled against big teams, good enough for you? I think they're better, plain and simple! I also think they have a better resume. Christ, some of you think you have a PHD in this shit, get off your hourses!Scarlet_Fever wrote: Well it's not criteria at all. It's an opinion. I'm willing for sure to listen to your thoughts on why you think Duke is better. But just saying they are better because you said so that's no arguement. That's what I tell my kids when I don't really have a good reason. I would love if we could ever get actual debates around here rather than just this is my opinion and if you don't agree then blankety, blank, blank, blank.
Really you won't give me a reason because you can't. If Duke wins they are for sure worthy of a number one. Heck maybe even so if they lose. But they are not head and shoulders above the other two. They just look that way because they are Duke. -

Good for you and your opinion.:rolleyes:DeyDurkie5 wrote: no no, it's a pretty awful reason...I think Texas should get a one seed because I think they are better than Duke! There it's my opinion and I'm right! -

There you go now you get it. Great point. OSU sometimes forgets they need to guard the 3 and could have trouble with a team with some size if they get in foul trouble. But you are wrong. Duke is not better.rock_knutne wrote:

Big GainI can't see how the 3rd place team in ANY league deserves a 1 seed.

Duke isn't what I would call a "big team," but that is a fair opinion.
However, to claim Duke has a better resume than WVU is laughable. -

We've had our disagreements before, and I'm an OSU fan, but I finally found something that I (partially) agree with you on! OSU would struggle with Duke a lot, because as scarlet fever said, we leave the 3 open way too much, and we know how much Duke likes to bomb it every year. Actually, I don't think we "forget" about it, it's just that Deibler and Buford are poor enough defenders, that we have to cheat too much into the lane to stop cuts and penetration sometimes, and we get burned on the backend of it. However, Zoubek and the brothers (sorry, can't remember names at this hour lol) wouldn't dominate OSU's inside like you think they would. I've watched Duke about 6 times in the last 2 weeks (10+ total for the season), and Zoubek is improving SOME, but he's still not a legitimate bigman. He'd get his lunch packed in the Big10. The brothers are young, and talented, but they're not going to put Duke on their back and score 25-30 or more to lead them to a victory in an intense game like an NCAA tourney game (which is where they could meet, in theory). So yes and no in agreeing with your points.
I think it would be a hell of a game though and I hope we get to see it happen. That means OSU would likely be pretty deep into the tourney to face Duke, and you have to be in it to win it all! -

At one point the other day, Duke had one of the Plumlee's and Zoubek on the floor at the same time........that's 6'10" and 7'1".eersandbeers wrote:Duke isn't what I would call a "big team," but that is a fair opinion.

BTW, I'm a Big East guy and feel WVU deserves a #1 but I also think Duke would beat them. -
rock_knutneBTW, I want to clear a few things up because I don't want anyone to get confused. If WVU lost last night, then the remaining #1 IMO would clearly go to Duke (win or lose today), but WVU won and IMO they should get that last #1 seed.

Swamp FoxLove him or hate him, Coach Huggins has won a lot of basketball games in his coaching career and I thought last night's win over an outstanding Georgetown team was a microcosm of Coach Huggins' career. I think that congratulations are certainly in order for this great win. I think his team deserves the other Number One spot! I think that Duke has a nice team but this season West Virginia played in a much tougher league and has proven that in the "Big Games" they come up "Big" quite often.

georgemc80I could care less about the final number 1 seed. Here is my take on this. I would rather have Duke get the number 2 seed in the South than have to go out west. Do they even play basketball out west?
Of course I have tickets to the South Regional in Reliant Stadium...(God I hate those PSL's but they have come in handy.) so that may be the reason I want Duke in the South. -
Prescott
I hope that works out for you because the west will be the easiest region.Duke get the number 2 seed in the South than have to go out west. Do they even play basketball out west? -
reclegend22^^I agree.
I want Duke in the West for that reason. -
reclegend22Sorry about your ticket situation, george, but Duke needs to get out West for its best shot at a Final Four.
