Illinois vs Ohio State

    Let's go Illini!

Defense looked great against a struggling (shooting) Wisconsin team. These guys have nothing to lose and a ton to gain. Hopefully the Orange Crush will rise up to yet another challenge.

If Ohio State plays Illinois anything like they did the previous two times this year, they win running away.

Things are setting up nicely for an OSU/Michigan State rematch in the final.

anything for the Bucks after today's win is icing on the cake, and it really wouldn't surprise me if the Illini pulls the upset--GO BUCKS!!!

This falls under the " Who Cares" category for me. I definitely wanted not to lose in the quarterfinal, but I don't care what happens from here on out as long as the Buckeyes stay injury free.

Come on....you going to tell me you won't be rooting on OSU anymore then you usually do?
I know what your saying....but I want a win, and wno't be happy if OSU doesn't get one.
When the ball goes up...its all about getting the "W". And after showing some "rust" in the game today....I think another game would be beneficial going into NCAA.
  • ytownfootball
Well, the outside possibility still exsists for a 1 seed, though I see it as doubtful. I can't watch OSU with indifference ever. I won't be devastated should they lose but they were rusty and need the momentum going into the dance (not need, but it wouldn't hurt)

I'll root just as hard, but I won't be as disappointed as I normally would be if they lose. I think they have secured a #2 seed and can't get a #1. The remaining tournament games have ZERO impact.

    .

If duke can beat a Miami , a team that was 4-12 in the ACC and is now playing without their leading scorer and rebounder and either NC. State(5-11 in the ACC) or Georgia Tech(7-9 in the ACC) they will get the #1 seed in the NCAA.

To win the ACC tournament championship duke will have beaten 3 teams with with either 14 or 16 league wins combined.
    What a gauntlet.

I actually think if WVU beats GT....they could get that #1 over Duke.

I was slightly more inclined to think WVU also, their road would have been tougher.

I guess the pertinent point is a win the next two days gives the Bucks a better shot should the opportunity be there.

The 3rd place team in the Big East should be seeded ahead of the ACC Champion?? Interesting. I don't see how a team can get a #1 seed if they can't win a League Title or at least finish 2nd.
  • ytownfootball
I would agree, but the Big East is a big conference ;)

I saw a breakdown one of the ESPN guys did that convinced me they would have an argument for the seed too.

Good point....Not so sure how WVU deserves it over Duke.

I'd actually like to see Ohio State land a 2 Seed. I think if they do, they could be seeded out West, which would put them in the same bracket with the weakest 1 Seed, i.e. Duke, WVU, KState. I think it ultimately goes to Duke should they win out. If Duke slips up, KState pulls the upset and WVU loses, it may go to KState. The only scenario I see for OSU to grab the 1 Seed, would be if Duke, Kansas, and WVU all lose, which isn't going to happen.
  • slingshot4ever
I sitll dont think Syracuse deserves one after losing their last two games and the committee always looks at your last ten games closer than games from November.
  • sportchampps
I would give it to WVU over Duke. The ACC is terriable this year while the Big East is once again the best conference and if WVU wins the conference tournament that would mean they are the hottest team in the nation in from the toughest conference. WVU also got a good scorer join their team for the last 10 games and at time shave looked unstoppable with him.
  • se-alum
WVU would deserve it over Duke. Are you going to tell me that the 3rd place team in a good conference doesn't deserve to be seeded over a champion of a weak conference??

Back on topic, I think OSU will play really well today.

Because they are a better team. I think Duke will get it unless they go no further and either OSU or WVU win their tourney. Then one of them could get it but I still think it will go to Duke. I hope so and OSU gets the top number 2 seed (that will go to either OSU, Purdue, WVU whichever goes furtherst in their tournament) and is in Dukes bracket.

Prescott provided some numbers on another thread and it's now pretty apparent that WVU deserves it over Duke. I guess I didn't realize how lackluster the Blue Devils resume was this year.
  • ytownfootball
Despite those numbers, and those are what I was basing my opinion on, I still think Duke gets the nod, though I think WVU deserves it more. I just doubt the committee will be able to get past Duke's history.

Damn I could have swore I clicked on Illinois vs Ohio State not who should be the last number 1 seed... GO BUCKS!!

    OSU>PUR FTW!!

I hope we get to play purdue soooo bad!!!
  • darbypitcher22
If OSU wants the #1 seed, win the tournament and make it a tougher choice for those folks in the selection room on Sunday
  • Pick6
Duke and WV losing wouldnt hurt either.
  • bulldog8
I think OSU will need some serious help to get a #1 seed. I think Kansas and Kentucky are essentially locks for #1's. Then there are Syracuse, WVU, and Duke. Syracuse really can't help their cause, but I think they already have done enough to earn the #1. For OSU to even be considered, WVU needs to lose to Gtown and Duke will need to lose in the semis or finals of the ACC. I think it's highly improbable that both these teams will lose, but you never know. Stranger things have happened....We can't forget Kansas State either - if they knock off Kansas today, they could stake their claim for a #1 seed. I think OSU's fate is sealed and they will be the top #2 seed in the tourney.

I think the Bucks will surely take care of business against Illinois today. Lunardi has Illinois in "the last 4 in" category so they will definitely come out with some fire to help solidify their spot in the field of 64.
