Illinois vs Ohio State

WVU deserves the last #1 over Duke, and both deserve it over Ohio State. The Buckeyes are not and should not be a #1 seed, regardless of what happens in the Big Ten tournament.

^ If they both win their tournament then yes. If not and the Bucks win the Big 10 then no.

This wouldn't even be a conversation if Turner doesn't get hurt imo.

Yes, OSU when fully healthy is a #1 seed.

WVU is more deserving than Duke. The ACC is awful this year

I think WVU is most deserving. The only Reason Duke gets the nod over OSU is they have less losses. Well if Duke were to not win their tourney and OSU would then Duke would only have one less loss than OSU. OSU would have shared their Conference champion. (same as Duke) and won the conference tourney. (which Duke wouldn't have). Also, 3 of OSU's losses were without the best player in the Country. To me OSU would be more deserving. Duke just has history on their side.

Also, yes this thread did get sidetracked and should be renamed to allow another thread for todays game. Sorry Snotbublles that your thread was hijacked. :D

    LETS GO BUCKS!!

Ohio State (25-7, 14-4 Big Ten)

vs. RPI Top 50 (w/ Turner): 5-2 (Wins: California, Florida State, Purdue, Wisconsin, Michigan State)
    vs. RPI Top 50 (w/o Turner): 0-2

    Duke (27-5, 13-3 ACC)

vs. RPI Top 50: 7-4 (Wins: Gonzaga, Clemson (twice), Wake Forest, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Maryland)

West Virginia (26-6, 14-5 Big East)

vs. RPI Top 50: 8-5 (Wins: Texas A&M, Marquette, Ohio State, Louisville, Pittsburgh, Georgetown, Villanova, Notre Dame)

If Turner plays Ohio State beats Butler which helps the resume a bit. They still wouldn't have won the game that Wisconsin blew them out. They wouldn't have lost to Michgan either, so their RPI would be better. The injury doesn't affect the resume that much though. If Ohio State wanted to be a #1 seed they shouldn't have given the game away in Morgantown.

You cannot say that with Turner OSU still loses to Wisconsin. You just cannot underestimate the impact that he has on this team and how they operate. Thats a whole new ball game.

Then Butler is a HUGE resume booster along with another W.

Things are setting up nicely for an OSU/Michigan State rematch in the final.
    O RLY?!

MSU chokes against minnesota..looks like it will be OSU>ILL PUR>MIN

    and drum roll please....

    OSU>PUR FTW!!
No complaints from my end...I'd much rather face Purdue/Minnesota winner.

I think it will also be OSU/Purdue in the final but I'll be rooting hard for a Minnesota upset.

At this point I think OSU is in prime spot for the best #2 seeding with a tournament championship. This is actually one of those years where I want OSU out west.

Nice Start ... Better than yesterday
  • devil1197
And for the sake of the conference, although I'd like to see OSU win the championship, I wouldn't mind Minnesota or Illinois fighting their way for a bid to join OSU, MSU, Purdue, and Wisconsin.

Illinois is already in regardless of what happens today. Minnesota is on the bubble. They should be in easily by beating Purdue and making the final, so both of them could still make it even if Ohio State wins the tourney.

Good Start. I was worried Illinois would come out and get hot early. Hopefully we keep it up.

I love Bruce Weber there on Diebler's shot. Before Diebler even caught the pass, Weber had both of his hands on his head
  • mallymal614
Will Diebler ever get some Defense?
  • osu45804
A few ticky tack fouls early .... Lauderdale gets elbowed in the face and no foul
  • mallymal614
    Tisdale is 8 foot tall.
  • osu45804
Diebler on the bench now... Simmons in
  • mallymal614
This has to be the first time all year that Diebler been in foul trouble.
  • mallymal614
What is up with Ohio State giving up big leads the last few games!?!?
  • mallymal614
Does Hightower do all of Ohio State games?
  • karen lotz
Simmons really doesn't belong on the court, I don't see how anyone can argue he should be getting more minutes.
  • osu45804
    OSU just looks so disinterested
  • karen lotz
    Right on cue from Simmons.

That is when the lack of dept comes in. There is no one else to put in over him. Unless Thad wants to take the chance with Diebler having 2 fouls.
