RichRod Out?
-
Foul TipOn Tony Kornheiser's radio show yesterday, Michael Wilbon said that he had a conversation with someone who is affilated with the michigan coach and this person would bet money that Rodriguez will not be back for a third season.
If you check out both Detroit newspapers today they have negative stories about Rodriguez. -
OneBuckeyeThe newspaper part is not a surprise. I don't think he stays, he is a clown who doesn't coach defense. They can pick up a lot of good coaches next year, like Brian Kelly or Jim Harbaugh and maybe even Les Miles. I think they should and will let him go.
-
darbypitcher22it'll cost a lot to buy him out...
-
Cleveland BuckThey aren't hurting for money up there.
-
vball10sethe's got at least one more year--ya' gotta' give a new coach at least three years-IMO

CharlieHogAs an Arkansas fan I could not be happier that Michigan hired Rich Rod. Ryan Mallett broke the Arkansas single season passing record last Saturday, and we have 2 games left.
-
dwccrewI really think this is a rumor. I don't think RR is going anywhere until next season when he fails to make a bowl game again.
-
j_crazyas a bucks fan, thanks for firing him. His offense will give the bucks fits on saturday, and will only be better as the years go. He'll find a good Coordinator to coach the defense and has a history of recruiting some talented guys. I think it's a knee jerk reaction to a better than expected start to this season.

I bet you're thrilled. Ryan Mallett impressed me more in the high school AA game than any other player I've ever seen in it. If they would have kept Carr he would have done some serious damage at UM.CharlieHog wrote: As an Arkansas fan I could not be happier that Michigan hired Rich Rod. thedynasty1998Ryan Mallett is a stud, and IMO the best pro prospect in college football.
As for Rodriguez, I don't see how you can fire him yet. Sure they are not playing well, but he's getting his guys in there and is playing with a freshman QB. I know that a school like Michigan has higher expectations, but I still think that he will get it together and will be a force in the Big 10 for years to come. His team is just too young right now and probably still learning his system.
With that said, if Michigan wanted Kelly or Harbaugh they should have hired them originally. -
darbypitcher22Mallet does have an arm, and he definately has the size.
And sometimes the logistics just don't work out to hire the guy you want originally, different leadership within the AD's department, contracts, etc. -
buckeyes_wooweeI will be sad to see him go!
-
HesstonI doubt he's back next year
-
Cleveland BuckHe'll definitely be back if they win Saturday.
-
WriterbuckeyeThe guy who hired him -- and doesn't want to look like a failure -- is still in his office until next September.
That's why I expect RichRod to be back for at least one more season.
Once a new AD takes office, then he no longer has anyone covering his backside and will likely be cut loose if things don't improve dramatically. -

For sure, he'll likely at least get one more season either way. But they'll be LUCKY to win Saturday.Cleveland Buck wrote: He'll definitely be back if they win Saturday. -
Swamp FoxThey will not win Saturday but I think that Rodriguez will be back for a third and possibly finsl season in 2010-2011.
-
h2thaizzoPossibly, or they could find cause to let him go. With the NCAA investigating him for what the players accused him of, then him not having practice logs which all coaches are supposed to have, letting him go could be cheaper than expected.
-
MulvaPersonally I'm not that impressed with Mallett. In Arkansas 3 toughest games this year he completed 34% of his passes against Bama, 44% against Florida, and 35% against Ole Miss.
He definitely has a cannon, but he is completely immobile and I'm not sold on his accuracy.
I would give RichRod 1 more year if I was Michigan though. They're still very young. -
sleeperIt's easier to be good at offense in the SEC too. Ryan Mallet in the Big Ten was T-T-TERRIBLE.
-
CharlieHogRyan Mallett is playing his first season as a starter. And most of our receivers/backs are also freshmen or sophomores. He's not polished, but he's got plenty of talent.
And Florida is #2 in total defense, Alabama is #3 and Ole Miss is #23. -
Tigerfan00What do u do next year though, do you start Forcier who has experience or start a Freshmen QB with no experience and has to go through all the freshmen mistakes and bumps all over again.
-
slingshot4everGive him a few more years to recruit and get his kind of players into his system. I say 2 more years.
