RichRod Out?

devil1197Getting his players or not, UM should not be having 2 years with no bowl games or a losing record. Its not like the B10 is a juggernaut conference right now and the OOC schedule for UM hasn't been killer.

This is why I could care less if he is fired. With the way the big ten has been in recent years, and the fact that UM had 3 easy wins this year means you got to make a bowl game in AA. Loyd Carr got ran out with a 20-5 record his last 2 years, why is anyone surprised that Michigan fans want RR out? He was brought in to beat OSU and get this team over the hump. He has done neither and to be honest he has shown nothing to make me believe that they can win this weekend or next year for that matter. His contract is up after next season so the whole give him 2 more years is not possible. Fire him now and save us a year of misery. -
DaBrowns41You guys need a coach that can teach fundamentals. Rich Rod is only interested in taking a fast QB, and making a spread offense dangerous.
When it comes to defenses, he's one of the worst coaches in the NCAA to coach up a defense. I've never seen such poor tackling in Michigan than the last 2 seasons. -

RR is messing up on and off the field. This is not Michigan football, let him go IMO. -

He definitely has a cannon, but he is completely immobile and I'm not sold on his accuracy.
I would give RichRod 1 more year if I was Michigan though. They're still very young.
They had Florida on the rope and as someone else pointed out those defenses are no slouch. I think he'll be alright. I'm not sure how much help he has on offense either and I think Charlie can probably elaborate on that more. -
bo shemmy3337You have to be impressed with Mallet IMO. The kid can flat out throw the ball. All this BS about not being mobile is a joke. He will be the first QB selected when ever he decides to go pro IMO. He is the best NFL QB in the NCAA. NFL scouts will drool over a guy like him. Everyone eels is scrambling around and running the spread and that type of QB is worthless in the NFL. The defense is to fast. He is still young and is in his first year of starting and has impressed many people. Everything I have ever heard of hm is that he is a cocky SOB though so I don't think he will be at Arkansas very long.

noreply66the only way he comes back is if he gets by OSU

zambrownI think you have to give RR one more year. You can't expect a coach to take a team in decline, completely change the offensive system and expect success in two years. While I confess I'm not at all happy about how this season ended up going, I am willing to give RR one more year to turn things around.

That team in decline beat Florida in Carrs last game.zambrown wrote: I think you have to give RR one more year. They were hardly a team in decline. Just think, Ryan Mallet could be QBing Michigan had it not been for RichRod.
To each their own though. -
SQ_CraziesYep, running Carr out was stupid...why do you think there were so many Ohio State fans that were thrilled when it happened?
From this Bucks fan, Lloyd Carr was a good coach and is a great man. -

I hope they keep RR for at least one more year! Not just so I can watch Michigan go deeper into the crapper but because Brian Kelly at Michigan would be BAD news for the rest of the Big Ten. Would love to see Brian Kelly go to Notre Dame though (no hatin' on the Irish now! lol)OneBuckeye wrote: The newspaper part is not a surprise. I don't think he stays, he is a clown who doesn't coach defense. They can pick up a lot of good coaches next year, like Brian Kelly or Jim Harbaugh and maybe even Les Miles. I think they should and will let him go. -
newarkcatholicfanMaybe Notre Dame will hire him.

Oh he's cocky, but I don't think that has anything to do with how long he'll be at Arkansas. I think he'll be back next year but that's it. -
cat_loverThey will give him at least one more year. If there isn't significant improvement next year then things get really dicey.

It's not like Michigan got rid of Carr, he retired. They couldn't have 'kept' him.SQ_Crazies wrote:
I bet you're thrilled. Ryan Mallett impressed me more in the high school AA game than any other player I've ever seen in it. If they would have kept Carr he would have done some serious damage at UM. -
SQ_Crazies^Oh come on...he was pretty much forced to retire.
-
fan_from_texasI'd give him at least another year. He's making wholesale changes, and it's tough to get rid of him before they can all be implemented. Michigan knew there would be some growing pains, so it seems silly to panic when they happen.

You may believe that, I don't. Do you have a link?SQ_Crazies wrote: ^Oh come on...he was pretty much forced to retire.
Let's think about it. He had the team in the Rose Bowl the season before he retired. While they had a dissappointing season in 2007, they still had a chance to win the Big 10 and go to the Rose Bowl if they would've beaten OSU at home. They beat the defending champs in the Capital One Bowl (I know Carr had already announced his retirement).
I think the heat was getting to Carr, but I don't think he was forced to retire. Bo was gone and that was Carr's biggest defender/ally. Now eventually I think Carr would have been fired, but I really don't think he was forced to retire. He was just feeling the heat. -
vball10sethere's an excerpt from a SI article on Coach Paul Johnson of Georgia Tech...what's DickRod's excuse?
"What should be frightening for other ACC programs is that Johnson's offense is already a well-oiled machine with athletes who were recruited to play in Gailey's system. Yellow Jackets fans can't wait to see what the offense will be like when Johnson has a roster filled with his own players." -

RR is just not a good coach. I'm sorry, Pat White saved RR. That's about all RR did right, recruit Pat White. RR is one of the worst in-game coaches in a conference that doesn't have too many good in-game coaches.Vball10set wrote: here's an excerpt from a SI article on Coach Paul Johnson of Georgia Tech...what's DickRod's excuse?

jordo212000He probably needs another year. But I'm not so sure that he'll get it

Getting Pat White and Steve Slaton (two players who others didn't want) was extremely lucky on Dick Rods part. But to give him a little credit, he was responsible for molding the offense around those explosive players and created one of the most dynamic offenses in the country. There was a reason hundreds of football coaches, including major college coaches, were showing up to his camps every single year.
I despise the man, but if he is given time at UM he will win. -
SQ_CraziesI don't have a link, but I've heard a lot about it. I went to high school with a kid that plays for Michigan, he's a senior so he played under Carr too. Carr may as well have been fired.
