2010 ACC Tournament

  • Heretic
The way Miami is mauling Wake Forest, that has to putting Wake in a precarious position. They were a #10 today, according to Lunardi, but trailing by 18 with 15 to play...if that keeps up, they'll be right in the quagmire of all the other struggling bubble teams.

That would be five losses in a row if Miami can hold this lead, I'd be really nervous on Sunday if I was Wake and I lost this game. Only thing going for them is the field of bubble teams is very weak, otherwise they would probably be out.

Wake at 19-10, gives the committee a chance to kick them out. They certainly don't look like a tournament team lately.
  • ironman02
Yeah, Wake may very well be on the outside looking in after that performance.
  • ironman02
Just an FYI...I'll be updating final scores on the original post if anyone is interested.

Georgia Tech with a must win tonight against UNC, they've beaten them twice this season but we all know how hard it is to beat a team three times.

Can't wait for the ESPN ACC game tonight. I've been craving ACC hoops.

Wake won their Senior night last sunday against Clemson.

I'm 0-2 also. I'd gladly take 0-4, though, because that would mean that Carolina beat GT.

Heels and Jackets tipping off soon. Gotta get four wins in four days to earn a chance to defend the title. Probably not gonna happen, but as of this moment, I still have hope.

The four wins or the defending of the title? Looks like Henson has come to play today (NBA stock rising?), so you might live another day. You have Paul Hewitt on your side, you can rest easy knowing that.

I'm just glad the Grand Daddy is here again. My FAVORITE thing in the world when it's played in the ACC capital, Greensboro, NC.

The ACC Tourny should never be played anywhere other than Greensboro.

haha...both. But I was referring to the four wins.

The first five minutes of this game have been disgusting.

Can anyone on the Carolina roster rebound the basketball? I think not.

Unfortunately, it will be played in Phillips Arena, the home of the Atlanta Hawks, in 2012. The good part: it's in Greensboro every other year until at least 2016. Music to this fan's ears.

The only ACC tournament I attended was in Greensboro, I don't get it. Expensive hotels and nothing to do. The SEC tournaments I attended in New Orleans and Atlanta were so much better experiences. There are so many great cities and arenas that can host the ACC tournament in the conference footprint (DC, Atlanta, Miami, Charlotte, heck even Boston now) I'm not sure why people enjoy spending outrageous travel money for a crappy arena and even crappier town, unless you are a UNC or Duke fan and like the perpetual home advantage.

Carolina leads GT 34-24 at the half.

Heels are playing a decent game at times, but Tech has been pretty awful. Quite a few missed opportunities by Carolina or this lead would be a little bigger. That will probably come back to haunt them in the 2nd half.

    For the Duke guys:

Looks like the Blue Devils might have received a nice commitment today from Michael Gbinije. I say "might" because it appears the story broke on Quincy Miller's Twitter, but it seems to be legit so far. Good pickup for the Dukies. Your 2011 class could really be something if Rivers and Miller also commit.
  • Azubuike24
I'd say Quincy Miller is a virtual lock to go to Kentucky.
  • ironman02
I've heard he really likes UK, but he seems to be a huge Duke fan as well. I'd rather see him in Lexington though...that's for sure.

Kinda weird that there was no official announcement about Gbinije. Doubt if he's happy about Quincy letting the cat out of the bag.

Wow, thanks for coming out to play in the 2nd Carolina....
  • ironman02
You can also thank the officials for being awful. Drew and Henson both got fouled right there.

Figures Carolina could only play hard for 20 minutes...ready for the madness to end.
  • ironman02
Of course Tech can't miss now. Never fails.
  • wildcats20
Zeller having an outstanding game thus far with 15 and 8
  • ironman02
Yeah, Zeller is really stepping up. Getting get position in the post and playing very aggressive.

Would be nice if someone would play some D on Favors. He's killing the Heels inside.
